  1. Why and how to do education on open models and digital commons? One key project of this initiative is to build a knowledge base on open models: open-models.org

To facilitate the use of this tool the homepage and the introduction have just been updated, by @simon (myself, the author of this publication).

Open models education remains a very emerging topic which is generally conducted in silos: open science to researchers, open software to computer scientists, open education to teachers... Without providing a global picture of these phenomena, these various parties may even be unaware of each other's existence.

The knowledge base tries to answer this gap and connect openness movements. It can have multiple interests, at first because open models share some common laws and because these dynamics are complementary by articulating with each other!

An openly available resource to be able « to train people, a basis to create educational resources adapted to the multiplicity of contexts, a means to empower a network of trainers and specialists and a way to gather research in order to follow the state of the art in these areas. »

Education on open models can be a really broad topic targeting a variety of audiences, the intent with the base is at first to provide a general culture and then redirect to more specialized actors for advanced training.

A way to initiate people to these phenomena and then let them dive deeper depending on their needs.

Whether you're new to these movements or already well-versed in them but want to understand openness in other domains, this resource might be of interest to you. Or for any organization/university/school working around digital literacy!

    To see the introduction: open-models.org/content/introd

In this culture of contribution, feedback and suggestions for improvements are appreciated. Open models are hard to explain!

  6. Creation of a new job board around open models directly on the knowledge base: open-models.org/jobs/

Explore jobs related to open science, open education, open software, open hardware... All in the same place which you can also follow using an RSS feed 😉

The aim is to create a collaborative job board; if your organization has any offers or if you find one online! Please share them directly on the GitHub repository or communicate it by any means like in comments here.

    The current offers:
    - Various offers to set up for the founding team of the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (@Digital Commons EDIC): Operations Manager; Programme & Technical Manager; Ecosystem & Partnerships Manager; Office, Events & Communications Coordinator
    - Librarian Research Support Specialist at the @University of Luxembourg to support researchers on their open science and open data practices. A job that will certainly be about being FAIR.
    - Project Manager (M/F/X) Open Digital Publishing at @University of Liège for the development and coordination of open scientific publishing projects and the management of publishing portals
    - Commons Project Manager for Socially Responsible Digital Reuse Initiatives at @Emmaüs France to organize and lead a national network by developing shared tools and a shared governance structure.

It is offers found manually through monitoring of social media, we may gather more together to help people find a job or support the growth of open projects. Will be more and more interesting for everyone as the surrounding community grow.

For more technicality and to follow open data/open standards, all job offers are based on a JSON-LD format following the JobPosting standard from scheme.org. It may enable interoperability and reuse of the data elsewhere 🤷

Let's build a good place to share jobs around open models?

  11. Hello World 👋 This is not the launch of a new foundation but just a space to federate (and communicate on) communities around open models and digital commons.

Why Open Models Unfoundation? It aims to be a place to work at the intersection of all of these openness movements.

To share initiatives, to support education, to connect, to get news, to open minds, to find any kind of support thanks to a growing community!

The creation of this space is closely related to the project of knowledge base on open models and digital commons: open-models.org/

If you're active around these open things and want to support technologies built on sharing and collaboration, it may be an interesting place to be and follow. A complementary vehicle to push forward this vast and shared mission 🌍

How should communities around open models be organized? What Open Models Unfoundation may be in the current landscape?

  15. Keuzehulp Open Publiceren volledig vernieuwd
