  1. In this presentation, I explore the idea of "AI plagiarism" not as a simple violation, but as a mismatch between new modes of text production and outdated systems for assessing knowledge and contribution.

If text no longer reliably reflects thinking, what exactly are we evaluating?

This is part of my workshop at the Science Festival 2026.

A “student-in-a-box” agent arrives—what Einstein signals about the next phase of AI automation

By Juan Martinez, Feb 25, 2026

"Companion.AI’s newly unveiled 'Einstein' agent is not merely another #GenerativeAI assistant; it is a pointed demonstration of how quickly the market is moving from chat-based help to autonomous, persistent agents capable of completing entire workflows end-to-end. By interfacing directly with the Canvas #LearningManagementSystem (LMS), Einstein is positioned to log into student accounts, ingest course materials, participate in discussion threads, draft assignments, and submit finished work—effectively compressing the student’s academic workflow into a 'set it and forget it' automation layer."

  10. So, we’ve been thinking about a widely circulated student essay, the confidence with which it was discussed, and the rather relaxed approach taken to evidence. wix.to/YWJBcDC #AcademicIntegrity #CitationNeeded #CriticalThinking #HigherEd

  11. Just when we thought tech would make grading easier, it forced educators to revisit one of the oldest tools in the pedagogical toolbox. Colleges from Wyoming to California are turning to oral exams as a strategic response to AI-assisted cheating. And here is what’s fascinating: students aren’t just surviving these face-to-face evaluations, many say they prefer them, citing real engagement and a sense that they’re being tested on genuine understanding, not who can prompt the best AI. Oral exams don’t just block AI, they foster a skill the digital age most needs: the ability to think on your feet and articulate complex ideas in real time. That’s both an assessment and a career-ready competency.

    TL;DR
🧠 oral exams offer AI-proof assessment
⚡ students report more meaningful learning
    🎓 professors reconnect with mentorship
🔍 model pushes beyond tech dependency

  12. Hot for teacher? Academic settings are not exempt from power abuse. Coercion violates the Principle of Trust and corrupts the integrity of mentorship. We move from Corrupted Code (Force) to Clean Code (Power).

Scenario: A student approaches a professor for help on a critical assignment. The professor replies:

    ❌ Corrupted Code (Force):
"I can help, but it will require a lot of late-night one-on-one time outside the office. Maybe we discuss it over dinner tonight?" (Leverages academic need to blur boundaries.)

    ✅ Clean Code (Power):
"That's a critical topic. I can give you an extra 30 minutes during my office hours tomorrow, or connect you with the senior TA for immediate help." (Affirms professional boundary; prioritizes resource access.)

The difference? The second message preserves the trust essential for education. What boundary can you clearly state today?

  19. I used to attend a university for a diploma in computer engineering. After a few semesters, I decided to stop studying there. I needed to withdraw. However, what they call "student peers"—I am not sure what the term is in English—were being reductionist and maximalist regarding the official documents, stating that I had already agreed to and chosen the university and the study program in the online application form. This is not fair. I believe it is important to treat each person as an individual, as a whole person, rather than merely considering what I have done to prevent me from leaving. I wasn't there to fulfill their collectivist culture, believing I should prioritize the university's name and dignity at the cost of my own. At the moment, I want to take a break from writing this, as my mind is troubled by thoughts of my past, including the emotional abuse I experienced from the university staff. Unfair, right?
