  11. Working on almond at UC Davis kept me so busy that I fell behind in my non-sponsored Ceratonia siliqua research. So I'm only now finding out that ambrosia beetle has emerged as an introduced pest in Italy and Spain.

    This is a horrible shame because at least in many areas it grows, carob has faced remarkably low pest pressure compared to better-known crops.
