The first #CRISPR tomatoes are on the shelves in Japan. Neither the benefits nor the risks have been investigated in detail. Consumption is not recommended for pregnant women.

If #newgeneticengineering (#NewGE) is deregulated in Europe as proposed by the @EU_Commission such products could soon be on the shelves here too – without #riskassessment and without labeling.
