Ce qui m’obsède, c’est l’autorisation de l’acétamipride dans l’UE jusqu’à… 2033 ! une échéance tellement tardive. Au cœur du problème, l’EFSA, l’Autorité européenne de sécurité des aliments (European Food Safety Authority). Ce n’est pas l’EFSA qui décide, mais c’est bien cette autorité qui délivre des avis qui conditionnent l’autorisation ou l’interdiction d’une substance.
Dans l’article de Stéphane Foucart @sfoucart de mai 2025, on constate que l’EFSA n’a en effet pas recommandé l’interdiction stricte de l’acétamipride dans son rapport le plus récent (mai 2024) mais il ne s’agit pas la tranquillité paisible d’experts sûrs des arguments d’autorité de leur science éclairée, puisqu’elle reconnaît « des incertitudes majeures dans l’éventail des preuves de toxicité neurodéveloppementale [toxicité pour la construction du cerveau] de l’acétamipride ». On a vu plus rassurant !
Un détour par Wikipédia m’a ramené à un autre article plus ancien (octobre 2013) par Foucart déjà, qui évoque les conflits d’intérêts que l’on suspecte parmi les experts de l’EFSA. Cet article rend compte des résultats d’une enquête conduite par l’ONG Corporate Europe Observatory (Observatoire de l’Europe industrielle, CEO).
En 2012, l’agence européenne avait été critiquée par le Parlement européen et la Cour des comptes européenne pour sa gestion « inappropriée » de liens d’intérêts de ses experts avec l’industrie. Alors, en juin 2012, l’EFSA a renouvelé ≈ 80 % de ses experts. Mais ça n’a manifestement pas suffit. Le rapport de CEO met en évidence que 59 % des membres des groupes de travail de l’EFSA (209 experts) sont en situation de conflit d’intérêts. Ça fait mal !
Pourquoi ? Comment ? Ces experts sont des professeurs d’université, des chercheurs du secteur public, en activité ou en retraite, etc. L’EFSA répond que « la participation à des recherches financées par l’industrie ne constitue pas nécessairement un conflit d’intérêts, pour autant que les recherches en question ne concernent pas directement le sujet examiné. » Mmmmh. Konmême !
L’article dévoile enfin une difficulté à mon avis majeure : ces experts ne sont pas rémunérés pour leur travail d’expertise. « C’est une question importante que soulève le CEO, relève en 2013 l’eurodéputée Corinne Lepage. Il est tout à fait anormal que l’expertise publique ne soit pas rémunérée, ni valorisée dans la carrière d’un scientifique. La situation actuelle conduit à se poser la question de l’intérêt qu’il peut y avoir à se porter candidat comme expert à l’EFSA. »
Cherche expert indépendant… Et si on les payait pour leur expertise ?

Die Deutsche #Umwelthilfe hat einen weiteren Erfolg gegen problematische #Pestizide erzielt: Die Zulassung des flufenacet-haltigen Mittels #Tactic wurde pausiert, nachdem bereits #Elipris gestoppt wurde.
#Flufenacet gilt laut #EFSA als #hormonschädlich und trägt zur Belastung von #Gewässern durch die „Ewigkeits-Chemikalie“ #TFA bei. Die DUH fordert ein schnelles Verbot solcher Wirkstoffe zum Schutz von #Gesundheit und #Umwelt.
