  1. removes to "Enchance user and esure that users exit setup with connectivity and a Microsoft Account".

    Fine.

Here's a riddle - what if my PC has a , oh I don't know, like , one of the most popular 2.5 Gig in gaming MOBOs, which doesn't recognize OOTB (and WiFi chip, that suffers the same fate)? I literally have NO way to connect to the Internet.

So... No Windows setup for me, I guess?

  3. I give up.
Apparently there's some bug in driver that affects in some certain conditions and causes it to hang a process, not caring about a process. A pull request intending to fix this is open for more than a year, and it doesn't seem to be moving at all. So no for my .

So sadly, back to ... At least I have on my (which tbh feels a lot like and I'm unsure how I feel about it)...

  4. As it turns out, doesn't have any options available during first setup. No Magnifier, no Screen Keyboard, nothing. You also cannot connect any accessory during the initial setup.
So now my parents are stuck with Mini serving as a paperweight until they get a USB-C hub, cuz they didn't realize you cannot connect your Bluetooth keyboard to Mac during initial setup.
    What year is it? 1999?

  5. Fun from last night:
Spending 4 hours trying to come up with a way to install on without layering packages.
I ended up installing from , using rustup to setup and then using cargo to install Alacritty. And I had to make .desktop file myself.
Only caveat - no way to include updating cargo and crates in "ujust update" (or I'm not smart enough). So after updating I have to manually run "rustup update" and "cargo install alacritty"

  6. Soooo...
No Global Menu for on ? Too bad... Really, really shame.
Or maybe there is some hack I can do? Currently using on

  9. Hmmm, for some weeks now I had problems with - on every , every . With my inbuilt 2.5 Gig NIC the connection would just drop. On 2.5 Gig I226-V the ping response times would spike to 100-200 ms, which made it unusable (and in caused the DE to become unresponsive).
Switched to old 1 Gig Intel 82571, and it would set itself to 100 Mbps. I changed cable from Cat 5e UTP to Cat 6 FTP and it jumped to 1 Gig.
    Was the the all along...?

  10. So I was bored today, and decided to try and learn a bit more about , and all of that stuff.

  11. I find it baffling, how many people are outraged by this blogpost:
    blogs.gnome.org/uraeus/2025/02

    1. It's a personal blog, not even an official / blog ("official Red Hat communication happens on Redhat.com")
    2. Yes, the blog post talks about AI. ABOUT AND , which are frameworks that allow setting up hw accelerated machine learning on Fedora and make it easy. THIS DOESN'T MEAN WE'LL HAVE IN FEDORA

  14. There seems to be no practical limit to how big your cursor can get when you wiggle it in Plasma 6 😆

  15. Okay, I might have not given 6 the proper time to evaluate and was tainted by my previous (extremally bad) experiences with Plasma 5.
I like Plasma 6.2. I really like it. It integrates nicely with , isn't nearly as buggy and incoherent as P5, KDE Connect works properly now, and is really getting good.

  16. Hey there!
Anyone rocking or kernel on ? Is it stable enough to use and not break anything?
I want to have these fancy new AMD performance boosts from 6.13 on my main gaming PC, but I don't want my OS to glitch out or break...

  17. What did I just learn...
In in Settings you can go to "Windows" and in "Title bar" section you can bind scrolling on window title bar to adjust the of the window.

    WHAT?!

I've been using for 2 years now and I just noticed that! That's soooo cool.

Doesn't work on all windows tho, notably Flatpak Firefox and Steam (since they don't have Cinnamon title bar). Still cool!

  22. Something if you're bored.

HOARDER project (github.com/hoarder-app/hoarder) recieved a Cease and desist from a company behind HORDR mobile app, due to "copyright infringement".

Hordr claimed, that Hoarder stole their name, even tho at the time of sending CaD they didn't even release the app.

    Yeah... Yeah... I just can't...

  23. So I finally managed to set up my server again after moving. , and is plenty enough for me for now.
However, since I already made a Samba share with backups for my laptops so I don't need external drive... Why not set up a netboot server...?
And so I did. came in handy, dropped a few ISOs on the Samba share and now I don't need either external drive for backups nor USB stick with Clonezilla on it. Just an ethernet cable!

  24. @gherhartd from my work as sysadmin and my testing of - desktop Snaps are absolute, hot, steaming pile of garbage. They are somehow even worse than I remember from .
On servers however, when you use them for terminal-only soft, like Docker, Kubernetes, LXD - they are the best thing that happened to Linux server.
It's weird, but it is what it is 🤷‍♂️

  28. All right... I did it...
I dumped on my work laptop for 24.10. Why?
Well, after I have this newfound admiration for what does and how passionate are about making Snaps the best they can be. Will I like it? Or absolutely hate it, like I did before? I give myself a month to find out.
However, my personal laptop still has Mint. Not giving up on this amazing distro just yet!
