Letzte Nacht wieder so ein #Traum gehabt.
Ich war als Einbrecher unterwegs und bin in eine vielversprechende Wohnung eingestiegen nur um festzustellen das sie einem #Hoarder mit hang zu Kissen gehören musste. Überall Berge von Kissen. Ich wollte wieder raus als ich über ein Mord in Progress gestolpert bin. Wir wurden uns einig uns zu ignorieren, so dachte ich. Stellte sich heraus der Hoarder war ein #Massenmörder der seine Opfer unter Kissen begräbt. Ich habe es nicht mehr raus geschafft. 🪦

The idea of a small, static, local #website for my own content is beautiful, and I would like very much to do the same as Alex.

I have a barely organized collection of upwards of 10K books, 100K images, 17K songs, 3K videos, and 20K bookmarks; I have no time to #tag them all, and the collections grow steadily by the month.

While Alex can add and tag each item as she collects it, I would need hours daily, for years, to get even - and that's after many years building my current file system organization.

Does anyone know a #software for #tagging files in general (not only images or books, for instance), which matches all of the requisites below?

- Is open-source;
- Runs in both Windows and Linux;
- Does not touch or edit the files being tagged;
- Allows for exporting of #metadata to textual formats, like #JSON;
- Is easy to use;

I've run my own mail server for decades, and due to a mix of unfortunate circumstances, bad choices and no backups, I have now lost those decades of email. Of course it's annoying to have lost recent mails, mostly because I run a business and need things like invoices and shit for my accounting. But it's also weird to have lost the archive. Messages to old friends and girlfriends. Weird blind dates. Friends saying hi. My first emails with my wife. People sending me photos. All gone. It fucking sucks. Or maybe it's a fresh start. I'm not sure.

How about you? Do you keep emails around for ages? If so, why? Time capsule? Weird obsession?

Years of neglect has made my storage HDD simulate the conditions of a wild jungle boobie trapped by the natives.

I think just enough space is free to work on the scope. I labelled the 6 power supplies and the ends of the cables to stop having to trace which one is which. I use 14 gauge extension cords for those, as they are useful to reaching far from the bench for certain projects.

Оно устанавливается на сервер и выступает единой БД для доступа из любых клиентов: Android, iOS, Chrome, Firefox и т. д. Рассмотрим базовые функции этого приложения и как установить его на машине, где хранится личный информационный архив. Это может быть или домашний сервер, или VPS.

Anytype looks very interesting with p2p synchronization! It might replace multiples of software on my side: Obsidian Hoarder, Dayone, and Reminder. A self-hosted solution is available, too!

Any #selfhosted bookmarking app suggestions ? I had used #wallabag back then, but it was a long time ago, and there are some new apps on the street such as #linkwarden or #hoarder . What link bookmarking / archiving apps are you using, and why?

So I've been using Hoarder in my #homelab for a month.

It's a self-hosted bookmarking service that makes offline copies (text + screenshot) of whatever you save in there. It has great features like lists for easy content organization, RSS feed fetching, AI summarization and tagging, and much much more.

I'm using it to store web articles offline and as a read-it-later service, all self-hosted and easy to deploy with Docker. Quite happy with it so far.

Any #Selfhosted #Hoarder app users have this issue? I'm seeing that Hoarder is struggling to capture any Mastodon posts, some people have some great info in threads that they haven't posted on blogs and I want to save the references.

Do you have any config tweaks you'd suggest? I already turned on CRAWLER_FULL_PAGE_ARCHIVE and CRAWLER_FULL_PAGE_ARCHIVE to true. I'm not getting full screenshots for any pages but getting page archives for "normal websites" but neither for Mastodon posts. I'd appreciate any pointers!
