I don't think Sonic would be much of a cuddler in general, but one of my oddly specific headcanons is that Sonic likes to lay next to Elise and just. Listen to her heartbeat. :bigblobhajhug:
In 06, he lost her—as in, she actually died, so the idea of him trying to confirm that yes, she really is there, even if he doesn't fully realize what he's doing or why he's doing it, is so heartwarming to me.

Sonic lounged on the park bench, his foot idly bouncing. His gaze flickered over to Sara’s hat as she adjusted it for what seemed like the hundredth time today. Her hat had twin points, with a gem resting in the middle just above her parted bangs. At a glance, it almost looked like a bow, but the shape was actually pretty three-dimensional. But something about it drew his attention today. It just occurred to him that he had no idea if she had cat ears under there.
He knew she had a tail—she didn’t hide it at all, and it plainly swished with her strong moods. But her ears…? He had no idea. Were they hidden underneath, or was the hat's shape just for style? He was tempted to ask, but maybe hybrids had norms against that, like humans and other types of clothing. He didn’t want her to think he was a pervert or something.
“You’re staring.” Sara said playfully, turning to face him so that her full outfit was visible. “Anything you want to say? Do you like what you see?” She swayed deliberately so that her skirt swished a bit.
Sonic thought of asking her. “No…well, in a way I do. I just wanted to ask—y’know what? Never mind.” Sonic said, reclining with a smirk.
Sara’s face fell momentarily. “No, now I’m curious! Tell me!”
“Eh, maybe later.”
“I swear, you’re such a tease!” Sara complained. Sonic saw the fabric under her hat shift ever so slightly, as if something underneath had twitched. Did she—? And just like that, it was back in place.
It looked like he'd gotten his answer after all.

@farooqkz If you want mainline Linux, not the old Android Halium kernel, the #LibertyPhone from @purism appears to be the only okayish option atm. You can install postmarketOS or Mobian on it as well.

Sonic set Elise down, her legs wobbling as she got used to solid ground.
"This won't take a second." Sonic stretched, cracked his knuckles, and bolted towards the robots that had been following them.
He spin dashed into one, then roundhouse kicked the next, and the bots exploded in a burst of flames. Sonic emerged unscathed.Elise was completely silent. Sonic certainly had a flair for the dramatic, but seeing him in action was something else. He was still now; the only sign anything of note had happened were the broken robot parts and the wind he had picked up, which still tugged at her hair and dress.
"You okay?"
You just used your body as a projectile to destroy robots, and you ask me if I'm okay?
"Oh. Yes. I am." Elise at last said. "I just didn't think that you could take care of them so quickly! You really are as amazing as they say!"
Sonic chuckled, scratching his spines. "Yeah. I guess." his eyes widened, and he corrected himself. "What I mean to say is—it is kinda cool, when you think about it—" Sonic kept compulsively rubbing his shoulder.
"You don't have any bruises, do you?"
Sonic's hand faltered, and he let it fall to his side. "Huh?"
"You're rubbing your shoulder." Elise kneeled next to him and took his arm. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Sonic tried to pull away, but she already was holding him.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I was just, y'know—"Elise's face fell when he broke out of her grasp.
Sonic looked at her apologetically, looking away. "I'm just not used to being fussed over, that's all." he started scratching his nose.
Dramatic in more ways than one, it seemed.

Memories - Shadaria AU by twisting-echo
(Fic contains references to substance abuse, so bear it in mind!)
A Victorian AU fic centering on Shadow's obsession with his lost love, through commissioning paintings. I can't say much more without spoiling the plot, as it's written differently from most fanwork—consisting entirely of narration and description—but I think the style serves the story well, making it feel almost like a fairy tale!
Even little details in the prose wording made it feel more authentic to the time period—turns of phrase like "He turned to the bottle" to describe him attempting to drink away his misery. I can tell a lot of effort went into this, and I loved it.
Full disclosure, I don't even ship these two, but this was so beautifully written, and pulled straight at my heartstrings. :blobhaj_tiny_hearts:
