another rotund vegetable has appeared in the garden... I'm beginning to think these are less "cucumber melon" and more "melon cucumber" or maybe they're just "melon melon"the mystery of how a melon seed appeared in the garden remains unsolved...
also, you can see from the photo how well organized my garden is with no plants overlapping or intertwining within and betwixt one another... not a chaotic jungle of vegetables at all...

I have a cucumber plant that has spread across the garden but hasn't produced any fruit all summer... that is until it decided to grow this today... it is already the size of a softball and is showing no signs of slowing... I will keep you updated...

So when I first tried getting into reading more books this (along with #FourthWing 🙄) where at the top of SO MANY lists of semi recent books worth checking out. So far it is kinda living up to hype. I am only 3.5 chapters in and I get it. The way it is written, the plot, the (internal mostly) dialogue really smooth and just pleasant to read.
I normally would not bother with the movie that is coming out soon, but my oldest saw the trailer for it and was captivated by it. If it turns out to be half as good as this book is shaping up to be, then we will have quite a good theater experience coming up soon. -

I have found two perfect cantaloupe #melons this summer. Despite the awful din that is pressing in, this small (and perfectly sweet) bonus is helping to make things suck a bit less.
In other news, I appear to be remaining on my own for brewing for at least another 3 months.

Some of things picked in the garden since last Wednesday. The little melons are done now, some carrots big enough for more than a taste, enough tomatoes that made 3 quarts of sauce, some tomatillo that fall off everyday, another green-flesh honeydew melon that tasted a little sweeter than the last one, more beans, cucumbers, squash, and zucchini.

The harvest from the garden today. The first green-flesh honeydew (5 lbs. / 2.3 kg) was picked and it tastes good. It's sort of a watermelon textured hollow melon. I can't remember if they were this way last year. Picked another watermelon (10 lbs / 4.5 kg), more cantaloupes, 2 pails of tomatoes, a big handful of beans, 6 crookneck squash, and 2 too big zucchini.

The last two days of garden harvest. I looked at the small melon bed today and found a ripe melon, then another, and another, and more... Picked all the fully red Marconi sweet peppers and all the paste tomatoes I could find that were ripe.

The watermelon and honeydew melon bed. The youngest watermelon seedling was thinned to one, the older plants are vining fast, and the center planter with marigolds, fireweed (I think), and a tomato plant is looking good.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on #OpenLibrary the degree to what they let you edit for a #books metadata is quite crazy. They even let you match it up against a Anna's Archive MD5 if you just want to obtain a copy of a certain ISBN. I cleaned up the page for my e-book copy of #Foundation and looks quite nice now:
