We got the new trellis materials in place today. We're using a jute netting with 6 inch square openings tied to the old metal frame with garden twine. Now we'll be ready to plant the beans when the soil warms up some more. BeetBear says "Don't talk to me about jute netting ever again..."

The old plastic netting on the bean trellis has finally gotten too damaged to be of use anymore so we are making plans to replace the netting this year. Got about 7 or 8 years out of the old netting.

The harvest from the garden today. The first green-flesh honeydew (5 lbs. / 2.3 kg) was picked and it tastes good. It's sort of a watermelon textured hollow melon. I can't remember if they were this way last year. Picked another watermelon (10 lbs / 4.5 kg), more cantaloupes, 2 pails of tomatoes, a big handful of beans, 6 crookneck squash, and 2 too big zucchini.

The last two days of garden harvest. I looked at the small melon bed today and found a ripe melon, then another, and another, and more... Picked all the fully red Marconi sweet peppers and all the paste tomatoes I could find that were ripe.

Today's harvest from the garden, minus any zucchini because I didn't spend much time looking. Picked the largest eggplants and a ones that were on a dying stalk, 2 cucumbers, 2 yellow crooknecks, and 580 grams / 20 ounces of runner beans.

Some general garden goings-on. The orange cherry tomatoes are abundant but the plant not so much. The potatoes are starting to bloom. The determinate tomatoes are a hedge. There are hollyhocks everywhere and the runner beans are surviving the heat.

Picked the orange Flamme tomato today and a few orange cherry. Runner beans are blooming and not looking pale now that it's warmed up. Some of the new earliglow strawberries have blossoms, and there were some bees in the garden.

Found a pair of squash bugs on an acorn squash plant too.

18 #October and #RunnerBeans are still ripening on the plant. I am still harvesting #tomatoes, the chard is looking nice and I have a handful of small courgettes on the plants. Herbs and parsley are still going. Hardy broad beans are in the ground for an early harvest next year.

Picked most of the dry-ish scarlet runner beans I could find. Weather forecast looks like the rest might get a chance to mature some more before any chance of frost in a couple of weeks, and get dry beans from those. I've never cooked 'fresh' whole beans other than what's in the too big for green bean ones somtimes, might try that since there are so many.
