With the beginning of September I did my first planting of our fall garden. Here's what I planted:

Beets (var.; Chiogga, Cylindra, Detroit Dark Red, and German Lutz Winter Long Keeper)

Carrots (var.; Chantenay Red Core and Scarlet Nantes)

Swiss Chard (var.; French and Lyon)

Lettuce (var.; Black Seeded Simpson, Buttercrunch, Oak Leaf, and Mescher)

I planted small amounts of a lot of varieties to see what will grow successfully when planted this time of year (during our ever hotter, drier summers).

Most of this seed was purchased (online) from Nichols Garden Nursery in Philomath, Oregon.

I haven't planted a Fall garden since the early 1990s and since the climate in Western Oregon is so different, now, most of the old guidelines on timing don't work, anymore. 🙁

I'm preparing this little bed for lettuce, beets, chard, and carrots. Way back when, I could have done this in early to mid-August but now it's too damn hot, even into mid-September.

We'll see what happens.

My top pruned Thai chili pepper plant is now bushier than the others not top pruned & it has almost same amount of flowers. Currently there are 19 peppers developing on it. My other Thai chili peppers plants are also loaded with flowers & each one has over 20 peppers on them. I'll do a harvest weigh in comparison, when they're all picked 🙂✌️💚
