Photos from last Sunday when we had our first #snow of the season. A fairly mild to warm week and most of it is gone, with little bits in some shady spots. Today cloudy with chance of rain/thunderstorms (I'm doubtful) but another week forecast to be mostly above average. View from this morning of one of the #RockGardens in front of the house, as the sun was just coming into the yard. Now, later afternoon much of the snow has melted, but there is still a line- similar to the shadow line you see farther back in the photo- where the trees behind keep it shaded and the snow remains! That little mound above left centre is winter snow still. This rain and snow should have the grass greening soon #garden #snow #spring #Alberta #Canada #SnowMother #weather

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 18 I didn't cut wood yesterday, so I went for a walk on the farm. Nippy at around -16C/3F (nowhere near record for this season) but beautiful after several days of fog #frost and #snow

We also mark the arrival of winter at this time: although #SnowMother does a season long dance of advancing and receding, in recent years we've generally had snow that remains, in places, from around this time until spring! The few centimetres we received the other day is gone from roads, sunny sides of buildings and trees, etc, but remains in shady bare spots etc. The beauty of a new season begins.

In the woods on the farm today where I was harvesting deadwood for firewood. Light #snow all day and around -22 at that time. Luckily inside this wood, no wind (outside, another story, slight, but still deadly).

(see photos in main post) it was a warm week with daytime temperatures from 5 to nearly 15C, nights -5 to -10ish; cooling off starting yesterday- the real drop comes this week, with daytimes as low as -20C.
