Video from slow walks on the farm. Neighbours have cattle there over the summer. I think the cows / calves find it weird to see me on foot, usually they take off if I get close (sometimes calves approach but mothers intervene). These ones were more curious, so I spent a little time watching+ talking to them- they never did answer!

This woodpecker has been visiting the apple-crabs (between apples and crab-apples in size and flavour-these are sweet and delicious). It flies in with a great cackling noise and settles on the tree to peck at apples for a while before flying off to season its meal with its regular fare-insects.

#InsectFriday Police Car Moth (named for a time and place when police cars were black and white!) Gnophaela vermiculata. Not super abundant, but not uncommon here and sometimes a number seen at once. This is not #BlackAndWhite ! We've had #Snow most days in the last week plus-not huge amounts but enough to make a #WinterWonderland
with little wind + no melting temperatures to disturb the white! Should start to shift a bit today- some wind then warmer temperatures next week . There is likely some #frost #rime #FrozenFog on those branches as well
