  3. 2 Same plant I forgot to name : Clematis occidentalis Western (Blue) Clematis wild in the woods on the farm. In one shot you can see my tripod and a little bag I carry a lens in.

  4. Here's the #Spectra #Peertube link to the same video. Because it is a longer video (10mins) and so a larger file, the YT video is 720p and the Spectra one 480 to reduce the size.

  5. Video from slow walks on the farm. Neighbours have cattle there over the summer. I think the cows / calves find it weird to see me on foot, usually they take off if I get close (sometimes calves approach but mothers intervene). These ones were more curious, so I spent a little time watching+ talking to them- they never did answer!

  6. CW: Cute Ladybug on bark

Lots of Ladybugs this autumn! This little person (Coccinella septempunctata
Seven-spotted Lady Beetle) was wandering around on the bark of a fallen log I was cutting for firewood, so I lifted that piece of bark and moved it out of harm's way.

  7. This woodpecker has been visiting the apple-crabs (between apples and crab-apples in size and flavour-these are sweet and delicious). It flies in with a great cackling noise and settles on the tree to peck at apples for a while before flying off to season its meal with its regular fare-insects.

  8. CW: leafcutter bee in a sea of dreamy lavender coloured Veronica flowers
  9. Handheld photo of the #moon taken in the yard one morning last week. Not NASA level, but still surprises me what cameras can do these days. This is my basic DSLR, more than 10 years old, lens only 18-300 (for non-photographers, that is not a long lens!) no tripod, cropped, sharpened a bit and background cleaned up in editing.

  10. CW: bumblebee on pink flowers

Seems like the world needs more of this today and in the days to come. Let's remember love and beauty and compassion..#Bumblebee on Chives in the #garden #SolaceInNature #BloomScrolling #GetOutside #GoOutsideForMe #Alberta #Canada #inverts #pollinators

  11. CW: yellow + black butterfly + lilac flowers

Probably our largest + flashiest #Butterfly Canadian Tiger Swallowtail Papilio canadensis they visit all sorts of flowers from native Honeysuckles to Dandelions but *love* Lilacs. Easiest to get photos on this since they're really dug in (still move a lot + the flowers on this one are very high) short video YouTube link Spectra to follow

Sometimes other noise can be a distraction. Like...

Dancing Flamingoes at the Nashville Zoo.

  13. Fantastic light yesterday as a cold/storm front approached. The trees with fresh bright green leaves, were still catching sun against a nearly black sky, making it look as though they were pasted onto the scene. #nature #weather #spring #Alberta #Canada #GetOutside #GoOutsideForMe #SolaceInNature #BorealForest #CountryLiving

video of Shepherdia Buffaloberry now loaded, and the Early Blue Violet is on the way.
Since I already posted stills (above in this thread) I'll include both the #Spectra #peertube link (which will show an image in this post) and the YouTube link below that.

  15. Running late for #WildflowerWednesday lol I had said these were the very first non-tree wildflowers of the year, but found another contender yesterday (still have to edit those!,stay tuned!)
Shepherdia canadensis Buffaloberry; super tiny flowers on a mid size, open branched, nitrogen fixing shrub. Tasty bitter berries used by native peoples and much loved by birds!

  16. #Sunset from the #commute last #weekend The season when I can see sunsets at home is now gone, mainly- it happens once I'm inside, now, plus it has moved north so it is blocked by the woods on the farm (in winter I see it over the bare neighbours' fields) . Now there is a brief season where I might see it coming home from work.. #Alberta #Canada #farm #landscape #photography 🎴📷 #CountryLiving #Spring #GoOutsideForMe

  17. #FirstFlowers of the year have arrived: Aspens Populus tremuloides are starting to fully open their catkins (willows are just behind, first few open). They may be tiny, but there are millions! Officially wind pollinated, but they do draw insects.

  18. So,I *took* the photos on #MonochromeMonday lol..I hadn't checked on #aspen #catkins for a couple of weeks- just emerging last time I looked; I knew the cool/snowy weather we had would keep them in suspended animation. It's been warmer for the last week though, a few days into the mid teens C/ even near 20C/68F, so I wondered if they'd matured. Nope! Farther along but still not fully extended/open.. soon though..
