For centuries the North has beckoned the #adventurers , #explorers , escape artists, #activists, and everybody in-between. Now a #Buddhist monk. We get them all in the North! https://cabinradio.ca/289640/news/yellowknife/meet-the-monk-camping-along-yellowknifes-ingraham-trail/

We've fed Chickadees on some cold days + they've become very bold: approaching us very keenly to beg for more food. This little bunch actually mobbed me when I was out in the bush to get firewood a few days ago-swooping close enough to almost land on me #birds #nature #Alberta #Canada 🌿📷 #BorealForest #GetOutside #ForestSpirits #BirdGoddess

Exploring large-scale landscape structures with a simple Principal Component Analysis (PCA) applied to a MODIS composite.
The PCA reveals striking contrasts in surface materials, vegetation patterns, and terrain transitions across western Canada — from the Rocky Mountains into the prairies and the Canadian Shield.
Even with moderate-resolution MODIS data, spectral variability produces a surprisingly rich view of regional geography and geomorphology.#RemoteSensing #EarthObservation #Geology #PCA #MODIS #OpenData #GIS #QGIS #Geomorphology #Geoscience #RStats #Lithology #GeoDataArt #GeoSpectralArt #BorealForest #Taiga #Canada #Alberta

I was privileged over a week or so to see this beautiful #owl ! It's not uncommon for me to see owl pellets or signs of them hunting on the snow (wing marks etc) but I don't often (not even every year) see the actual birds! This one I saw 3 times over a week or so, all the decent shots +vid from one of those times.

I was heading back out into the bush to get my last load of firewood for the day, a few days back, just around sunset on a gloomy day. This little #ForestSpirit crossed my path, and I took a few minutes to follow it as it flew from tree to tree. I never got much of a view, and no good photos, but it was still fun to see.
