Many people know of the SNES version of SimCity, but there was actually a version made for the NES that was unreleased, and The Video Game History Foundation published a few minutes of gameplay of the prototype for it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0q93b_allY.
It looks similar to other versions of SimCity we know. The music is fairly repetitive (that 8-bit limitation has a lot to do with that, I'm sure) but the video here shows a lot of the gameplay features, including the monster destroying the city. The music of the short cutscenes with the animated characters (saying you have too much crime, etc) really have a kinda Mario sound to them, in my opinion.
This was a cool watch for SimCity fanatics like myself. 😂

I grabbed the #Linux AppImage from the Speed Dreams website and am VERY pleased with: Overall experience, music, sound fx, mouse steering (!) and configurability. Holy smokes this has been a lot of fun.
(I am also pretty sure you can drift, just reflecting on my many wipeouts so far #dorifuto )
