I played some Jack the NIpper and I did about 60% naughty.

Some of the puzzles are a bit cryptic. You kinda have to try everything. But it's a pretty clever game.

There's a key that I thought was a clockwork key, but it turns out to be a radiator key and makes the radiators move so you can find secret tunnels.

Also the game area is like a labyrinth. You go though one door and find yourself outside the door to somewhere else. So you can only go forward and never go backward.

It's a bit bananas.

I want to find out all the naughties without looking it up.

I was thinking about a text-based role playing game on #ZXSpectrum called Hampstead where if you use profanities at any stage, the game terminates and you lose.

But I was thinking about that gatekeeping of language and how the people who coded the game compiled list of words they deemed the player was not allowed to use, yet were words known by the game makers.

Just the whole paradigm of spending time compiling a list of forbidden words only to enforce a rule to say those words are forbidden.

The forbidden part is for the gamer only, not the game maker.

Many people know of the SNES version of SimCity, but there was actually a version made for the NES that was unreleased, and The Video Game History Foundation published a few minutes of gameplay of the prototype for it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0q93b_allY.

It looks similar to other versions of SimCity we know. The music is fairly repetitive (that 8-bit limitation has a lot to do with that, I'm sure) but the video here shows a lot of the gameplay features, including the monster destroying the city. The music of the short cutscenes with the animated characters (saying you have too much crime, etc) really have a kinda Mario sound to them, in my opinion.

This was a cool watch for SimCity fanatics like myself. 😂
