Most of the day was spent in #Cornwall admiring this rather smart Steppe Grey Shrike. Good views of it hunting, flying, perched up etc. It certainly ate well whilst we were there.

Ein Neuntöter füttert sein Küken. Das Kleine machte schon eigene Jagdversuche, war aber wohl nicht erfolgreich genug. Papa holte das Futter dafür so schnell, als pickte er es nur eben aus seiner Vorratkammer im Busch nebenan.

Les vacances à la ferme de mon enfance au printemps, c'est la satisfaction de retrouver chaque année les mêmes espèces qui reviennent de migration. Et parfois, il y a de nouvelles têtes. C’est le cas pour cette Pie-grièche écorcheur (Lanius collurio) mâle en plumage nuptial que je n’avais jamais vu.
Et en tant que fan du roman Hypérion de Dan Simmons, le plaisir d'observer ce très bel oiseau est évidemment double.

I'm normally pretty cool around the house, in the #kitchen.
But (since I do all the cooking), I do tend to get mildly #irritated when things I expect to be in a certain place are no longer in a certain place and I have to hunt for them. Usually while something critical is happening on the stove.
And by mildly irritated I mean #Shrike from #Mortal #Engines.
