I spent 6 hours 7 minutes at a local reserve today -- Bowling Green Marsh. As much enjoyment from this as travelling to see a 'special' bird.
Highlights 4 x Spoonbill (with sticks! (I don't think I've seen this behaviour before)), Common & Green Sandpiper, Cattle & Little Egret. 34 species in total.

Dave B to see the Chough that have been visiting. Here’s hoping they settle. #UKBirding #nature #wildlife #BirdsOfMastodonAlso Clouded Yellow, Small Copper butterfly.
Topped off with fish and chips in Kingsbridge and a #CaskMarque pint in the Seven Stars.

Up early to trundle up to the Gloucestershire / Oxfordshire border for the visiting Long-tailed Shrike. Accompanied by Kevon O, Archie O, Dave B which made the driving easy.
The early arrival meant no heat haze and great views of the close bird.

Nothing finer than being in the hide at Bowling Green Marsh on a summer evening with no one else. Except if there's an absolutely beautiful summer plumage Spotted Redshank right in front of you. I had a lovely few hours yesterday morning birding around RSPB Frampton Marsh, including spoonbills, speckled redshank (with sneakily non-red shanks!), black tailed godwits and little ringed plover - as well as teal, shoveler, mallard and tufted ducks.
I usually think of Frampton as a place to go in winter, that’s certainly been changed. I might go back for one of their wader ID courses - the list above was reached in part by taking a *lot* of photos and reviewing them this morning with a couple of fieldguides and merlin to help me… (Yes, I got the spoonbills without help, thank you very much!)
Anyway, go to Frampton, see loads of cool birds (even if you can’t ID some of them on the spot), chat to friendly fellow visitors and the wonderfully welcoming reserve staff & volunteers, spend a couple of quid in the café (I rate the cheese scones), you really won’t regret it!

A fab. 6 hour trip in Lyme Bay, #Devon onboard Kelly's Hero. Highlights were great views of European Storm Petrel, a raft of at least 120 Manx Shearwater as well as a Sunfish & Gannet. Great company too.

This species was one that helped to get me hooked
on bird & wildlife watching. Always a pleasure to see one, especially one so still. I don't think I've ever seen one stay still for so long. -
Apart from putting together that superb (😂) Inner Farne Birds video, I spent my Sunday on #Dartmoor.

Inner Farne birds - mostly Puffin doing Puffin things (disappearing down burrows, pooping, pairing up, loafing) but Arctic Tern establishing territory, a marauding Lesser Black-backed Gull looking to scavenge food from Puffin and Grey Seal also.
I went with Billy Shiel's Boats out of #Seahouses.
