I had a lovely few hours yesterday morning birding around RSPB Frampton Marsh, including spoonbills, speckled redshank (with sneakily non-red shanks!), black tailed godwits and little ringed plover - as well as teal, shoveler, mallard and tufted ducks.
I usually think of Frampton as a place to go in winter, that’s certainly been changed. I might go back for one of their wader ID courses - the list above was reached in part by taking a *lot* of photos and reviewing them this morning with a couple of fieldguides and merlin to help me… (Yes, I got the spoonbills without help, thank you very much!)
Anyway, go to Frampton, see loads of cool birds (even if you can’t ID some of them on the spot), chat to friendly fellow visitors and the wonderfully welcoming reserve staff & volunteers, spend a couple of quid in the café (I rate the cheese scones), you really won’t regret it!

Inner Farne birds - mostly Puffin doing Puffin things (disappearing down burrows, pooping, pairing up, loafing) but Arctic Tern establishing territory, a marauding Lesser Black-backed Gull looking to scavenge food from Puffin and Grey Seal also.
I went with Billy Shiel's Boats out of #Seahouses.

A nice diversion from a dentist appointment - the male (I think) #Leamington Peregrine on the very familiar town hall bell tower. Made me feel quite nostalgic!

I've tried to pass on my enthusiasm for nature and wildlife to my Grandson without forcing him to share my interest. I'm hoping he (and his friend) will remember tonight when, after a shaky start, we saw a family of Beaver (2 adults and this year's kit). If he doesn't I will 😂

Since the Euros finished, I've been to two clubs nicknamed 'The Seagulls' as Exeter City start their pre-season friendlies - Weston-super-Mare #Somerset & Mousehole #Cornwall by the way.
Anyway I though it appropriate that my next video extravaganza involved a Gull - so here it is...a Herring Gull on the River Exe.
