Finally managed to get my WIIM to play BBC radio in HD again. The BBC Sounds app is pants even streaming over chromecast (and this isn’t a subtle difference)…

Here’s BBC Music for example:

(Try switching from this to the chromecast sounds app stream… which I assume is limited at best 320 kbps, happy to be corrected)

What I have learned from ripping my #Blurays to disk for media server usage.

1. It's fun
2. It's easy with a little bit of Googlin'
3. The library has a VAST collection of old and new Blu-rays which they do not mind you making "copies" of to watch later
4. A good #1080p Blu-ray rip with 30-60Mbps #bitrate blows any #streaming #4K out of the water in terms of picture quality

Now I need to see if there is an option for a #streamer that will resolution and fps match the content. The #Plex app on Apple TV does not do this. Not sure if the Plex app does this on the Nvidia Shield TV, but it may be worth looking into.

I believe anything above #4K video is useless unless you’re a #ContentCreator. Higher resolution allows for better edits by cropping, zooming, etc from higher to lower resolutions.
I also believe unless you’re young or have amazing eyesight, #1080p is good enough quality, especially as people age. Higher resolution is simply a waste of bandwidth.
If you want to impress me, find ways to improve #bitrate. It frustrates me to see video quality drop when there’s a lot of motion in video.
