#BMW Blasts Its Cars' Internal Screens With Aggressive #Advertizing - #Slashdot
Is BMW so eager to suicide itself?
I will **NEVER** buy a car with advertizing. Or with the technocontrol imposed by UE. I'd rather go outside the EU and buy a car in a country without their crazy rules. -
The modern #Web in a nutshell.
#indy100, a private news website from the US, and me figuring out which of the 15 third party garbage they include I need to display static images or play videos.
#HTML5 can do all of that natively...
These developers are so damn lazy, and the web such a hostile place for no reason.
Small independent Onlineshops are the same, embedding tracking from various providers just for a little more money out of this cursed model.
I haven't seen ads for over 8 years. That system doesnt work. I pay for content and donate to projects I like.

All the more so on ad-funded digital platforms.

There's no way ad-funded platforms can seriously promise to help rid the world of disinformation. Because marketing (advertising and PR) *is* professional disinformation. If that's what's paying the bills, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution.

@mrcompletely Fediverse norms are really fluid. We don't see your posts because some algorithm thinks we want it. We see your post because someone we follow boosted it, or because we follow you. If I follow someone who posts too much of something I don't want in my feed, I can ask if they might do content wrappers (CW) before I decide to not follow any more, or mute them for a while. It's just people to people and we figure it out. Find the way, then lead! #mastoart #advertizing #feditips

Anyone who still thinks selling audiences to advertisers is a viable way to fund media businesses in the digital age, please read this thread, starting here:

Ads aren't going away (sadly) and there are some niche cases where they still work. But the results are mostly bad for society (eg FarceBook and Titter). Time to get creative folks.
