On my #iPhone16ProMax, #M2MacbookAir &#M4iPadPro, I have Clipman set to sync with dropbox. Is there an easy way I can move my stuff to iCloud & just use that? Your documentation states that its slower but its actually nearly instantaneous for me. Although, I just realized that I'll need to use #Dropbox if I want to use the app on my #Slint machine, which is a version of #Linux developed specifically for those of us who are #Blind or #VisuallyImpaired & is based on #Slackware. Thanks for any info you can provide & certainly thanks for creating this wonderfull little application!

Update: See thread for origional topic. I have a lesson set up with a western flute instructor who, even though she doesn't have a lot of knowledge about the Bansuri, she's willing to do some research for me to help me confirm hand placement and flute angle. I have also, thanks to a friend of mine, connected with someone from India who is also #Blind and a self-taught #Musician who has given me permission to pick her brain when necessary. A lot of the rest will come with time. Thankfully, with there being so many videos out there and my ability to play by ear, I have plenty of options to learn new material. I'll be placing an order soon for a G bass from Labu Flutes and later switch to a larger flute, which I will happily pay the higher price at this point to get made custom. Anubodh, though expensive, has communicated with me in both a timely and informative fashion regarding what he can customize for me and what exactly each customization will do. Would I like to find a good teacher from which to learn? Absolutely. But at least I'm no longer feeling stuck and/or caged by a lack of options. The number of boosts I've received has been amazing. Okay hive mind, here's one for you. Ready? I'm a Totally #blind #musician looking to learn bansuri. Are there any blind/visually impaired bansuri players or Indian classical flute players out there? I’d love to know how you learned hand position and flute angle, particularly for larger flutes, without relying on visual demonstration. I have played the western concert flute for over 25 years, so getting a sound is easy. I'm also seeking accessible teachers/courses or live online lessons with strong verbal description. Went to the Vista Center for Blind and Visually Impaired in Santa Cruz today. It was for a combination of personal and professional reasons: (1) I'm blind / low-vision and need local resources and community, and (2) I'm looking for local business connections for my new accessibility nonprofit, Brain Computer Enterprises, Cooperative Inc. ( @bce ). It was a very helpful and productive first visit on both fronts!

from what I’ve read, most screen readers won’t / shouldn’t read out non-printable characters (either HTML or unicode) but some may – I’d love to get some real-world feedback on the range of different screen reader behaviours for this case

"Three people with visual impairments are suing New Hampshire officials to challenge the constitutionality of a law that will soon tighten #PhotoID requirements for voters seeking an #AbsenteeBallot.

"The plaintiffs — Adele Robertson of #ExeterNH, Daniel Frye of #ConcordNH, and Regina Wilson of #BrentwoodNH — allege the new law, known as #SenateBill287, will impose a significant burden on every #AbsenteeVoter statewide.

" 'And, in some cases, these burdens will entirely prevent voters from exercising their #RightToVote,' their lawsuit states.
Under the new rules imposed by #SB287, voters will be required to either bring a photo ID to their local election officials to request an absentee ballot in person, or submit a copy of their ID or a notarized signature along with their application.
While proponents said the legislation will better protect election integrity, critics said the changes will add barriers that disproportionately impact #seniors, voters with #disabilities, and those living in #rural parts of the state."

@emerybrooks I'm not a publisher, I am a hobbiest writer, so perhaps I don't have a stake in this discussion, but... #Ebooks provide some very wonderful things for the #disabled community.

My ex-wife in her dying years was too weak to hold up a book and didn't have the dexterity (I don't want to get into her health issues though) to hold a book and turn pages. She could prop a tablet on her lap when she would sit up in bed to eat and read.

I had a girlfriend once who was #blind and I'm still good friends with her. If she doesn't have an ebook or other electronic form she just can't read it. Yes, there are audio books but that can be exceptionally expensive for small publishers / authors.

There's also me, myself, I'm #dyslexic -- the only 2 ways I can comfortably read a text is #audiobook or with the #opendyslexic font on a #kindle / similar #ereader / tablet. For me, yes I can see the words but it is such a cognitive load to read a paperback or hardcover that I just won't do it, it isn't worth it.

So yes, you are of course worried about #plagiarism of #AI -- I agree with you. It is a HUGE issue. However, there are legal remedies for someone using your name without consent, passing things off / impersonating you. I know that legal remedy isn't available for everyone but -- it is there. Please don't advocate for those who have difficulty reading paper books to lose the ability to do so when there are other options.

Those with disabilities are marginalized enough, if you really want to get into this issue check out the hashtags and talk to the communities that it would be impacting. Please, please, understand that many of these people just don't experience the world the way the average person does. Consider that equipment for disabled people is exceedingly expensive. For example, a #braille terminal for a #visuallyimpaired person costs almost $3000! So when there is such an easy way to get the text into the hands of a blind person ready for a screen reader or other device to read it for them, please don't advocate take it away.
