As anyone heard of #PiecesOS? Seems like a fancy AI tool, but local first (which I like).
I don't care all the corporate features, but I am interested in the integration with #SublimeText to run local models:

The other plugins I tested are meh. -

The only reason I'm not already using ellipsus.com is the fact that it only works when you have an internet connection. I'm currently using Obsidian, which is far from optimal for writing stories, yet it's local first philosophy combined with relatively easy online sync is what keeps me using it.
With Obsidian, I know that even on that car ride, even on that spotty or nonexistent Wi-Fi network, I'll still be able to not only write but also read all of my writings. This is why I never used stuff like Google Docs either. Sure, it has some offline functionality, but only for the stuff you explicitly mark.
Ideally, Ellipsus would have an app or PWA which works offline and lets you take specific items or your whole library with you so that you can edit and read and edit. Then it all syncs when you get reconnected. I can see that this is a tall ask, though. This stuff is hard.

> what I'm after right now is worked-out plans I can learn fromFor what exactly? Choose one or more of;
* Exporting a full org/ repo and all associated data from a forge
* choosing a new forge
* Importing those orgs/ repos into a forge
* Local-first code collaboration using web forges only as dumb syncs (eg Nostr)
* Federating projects across forges, so no one forge is a SPoF
A few approaches have been tried for most of these.

Spotted on Alertmouse: Arizona SNAP Support. “Nearly 900,000 Arizonans rely on SNAP each month—including families with children, seniors and veterans. Our community cannot wait for a federal fix. That’s why Local First Arizona and the Secretary of State’s Office invite Arizona small businesses to step in with specials, meals-for-neighbors, and aid to bridge the gap.”

#Fish & #Wildlife: The #KoksilahRiver supports regionally significant #aquatic #ecosystems and fish species, including #chinook, #coho and #chum #salmon as well as #steelhead and resident #trout. These fish populations are both culturally and economically significant to local First Nations. It is essential to the survival of many species of #birds, #mammals, #reptiles, and #amphibians.
#Farms & #Vineyards: Approximately 15% of the lower watershed supports a significant #agricultural community including many large dairy farms as well as smaller mixed and organic farms. The pastoral landscape is a also a favorite wine-touring route and is a thriving and expanding #RuralTourism business.
Forest: Approximately 73% of the #KoksilahWatershed is Privately Managed #Forest Lands and another 6% is Crown #Forestry Lands.
#Recreation Opportunities: The Koksilah Watershed is home to several parks including the #KoksilahRiverProvincialPark. It is enjoyed by many in the valley as a refreshing place to swim on hot summer days because the water temperature is always cooler than the #Cowichan River. It is also used extensively by white water paddlers, particularly in the winter months.

Today I had a very funny test ride on the new build trails. I go to fast in some curves an the leaves on the trail make me sliding through them.
Do we have to build less curves?Our project with the local first authority, DAV and DIMB is going very well.
On Nov. 16th, we have our next building session.

@agowa338 "self-distract". lol. I can't say for real because i'm just getting into #ipfs and formal local-first, but I've found quite a few videos about #ipfs #ipns #ipld on youtube. published in the last 5 years or so.
You might want to check out https://www.inkandswitch.com You probably heard of them but i wanted to post it for completeness' sake.

It's taken me some time to figure it out, as I found it confusing initially, but I am now enjoying using the #anytype note taking app. Offline and local first, fully compatible across devices, supports markdown and keeps notes and files in the same place. Worth a look at https://anytype.io

@zelf >This study explores the development and implementation of Peer-for-Peer (P4P) networks, a family of open-source, peer-to-peer, and local-first communication protocols. Rooted in the principles of complexity theory and an ontological basis in complex realism, the research examines how small, modular, and community-driven infrastructures can serve as adaptive solutions in response to ecological, social, and technological crises. Through a mixed-methods approach, including interviews with nine case studies and an in-person workshop, the study identifies design principles that enable resilience and sustainability in P4P ecosystems. Findings highlight the critical role of modularity—both technical and social—in fostering self-organization, adaptability, and mutual aid within decentralized networks. The study also introduces the concept of "nested isomorphism," revealing how the structural patterns of technical systems influence the organizational structures that develop them. P4P protocols, such as Willow, Mapeo, and Scuttlebutt, demonstrate the viability of localized and distributed communication infrastructures that prioritize user agency and digital sovereignty. These systems challenge the colonial structures of global internet infrastructure by empowering communities to build and maintain their own resilient networks. This research contributes to complexity theory by expanding the understanding of self-organizing systems and isomorphic tendencies of technical and organizational structures. The research presents a framework for designing future communication infrastructures that align with principles of sustainability and inclusivity. The implications of these findings extend to the fields of open-source development, decentralized networks, and adaptive infrastructure design, offering pathways toward a more equitable and resilient digital future.
Well shit! That sounds really interesting!
