  2. P2P в РФ: почему нужна система, а не протокол

    Важное уведомление Данная статья носит исключительно информационный и исследовательский характер. Все приведённые материалы предназначены для обсуждения архитектуры распределённых систем, образовательных целей и анализа технологий повышения устойчивости P2P-сетей к цензуре. Автор не распространяет готовые средства обхода блокировок и не призывает к их использованию. Любые практические реализации, описанные в статье, являются гипотетическими и требуют от пользователя самостоятельной оценки соответствия законодательству своей страны. Ответственность за применение полученных знаний лежит исключительно на пользователе. Возможно, ни одна из описанных технологий не нова. Но их сочетание — с учётом российских реалий (CGNAT, DPI, белые списки) — представляет собой, насколько я вижу, ещё не реализованный на практике open-source проект. Приглашаю сообщество проверить эту гипотезу вместе.

    > to stabilize p2p primitives before they get open sourced

    This one would be more convincing ... If it wasn't for the fact that Keet is based on Pear, which is already published;

    github.com/holepunchto/pear

    Pear is in turn based on HyperCore/ DAT, which is too;

    github.com/holepunchto/hyperco

    Hypercore is part of DAT which is a documented open protocol;

    dat.foundation/about/foundatio

    So the "primitives" are already out there.

  4. Why the #OMN works with #ActivityPub – And why we need a bridge to #p2p

    Let's look at this. #ActivityPub is not a product. It’s not even really a “protocol” in the narrow, rigid sense that vertical tech likes to imagine. ActivityPub is a shared vocabulary, a public language for moving meaning and connection across the #openweb. It gives you nouns and verbs, and the community defines the grammar through lived use. This is why the #OMN works with ActivityPub, a metadata and meaning layer, not a platform, flows, not silos. ActivityPub is the widely deployed […]

  6. Does #Holepunch have any plans to add recording capabilities to #Keet?

    It strikes me that this epic feat of #p2p engineering that far outperforms any centralized #VideoConferencing would be the workshop facilitator & remote team manager's perfect tool; if only there was an option to retain streams on disk for later broadcast, transcription etc.

    It also strikes me that #Hypercore is tailored to do exactly this kind of stream handling.

  7. We've got a new version (v2.5.0) out which improves the look and feel along with fixes for the #Hypercore / #Holepunch protocol handlers.

  8. Just loaded my first #p2p site published to the new version of distributed.press with proper #ipfs #hypercore and #dnslink support!

    The DNSLink stuff is a bit iffy for hypercore, but I'll be fixing that up tomorrow.

    Now stuff can be published via Distributed Press, and viewed via @agregore

    What's cool is that in addition to keeping your content online, you can easily configure it to set up DNS keys for you by delegating with an NS DNS entry for the `_dnslink` subdomain on your domain.

  9. I used Beaker Browser back when hypercore was still called dat.

    Since the renaming, I've been trying to open every hyper:// url I came across with Beaker Browser and was consistently greeted with a "Site Not Found". It doesn't seem to be able to open dat:// urls either.

    Does anybody have a working hyper:// url I can test with?

    I am using Beaker Browser 1.1
