I can see that the pandemic was a massive problem for my inbox. It is amazing how I was so busy stuck at home during Melbourne's lengthy lockdowns, and I didn't seem to get around to any inbox admin.

I have now gone back in time past the pandemic and Black Summer. My inbox was a lot better maintained, although nowhere near perfect.

I have discovered that when you get onto the 2nd page of the Gmail emails, the URL ends in #inbox/p2. So instead of clicking on the arrow to paginate, I can just change the page number. I am now around p. 65 of my inbox. I am doing quick and easy mass archiving/deleting. I will have to go back over the emails again when I have finished this round and do some fine-tuning of the labelling/archiving/deleting.

Wichtig für die Kommunikation (zwischen Instanzen) ist hierbei insbesondere eine funktionierende Inbox: An diese werden eingehenden Beiträge und Nachrichten zugestellt.

Fediversale Serversoftware optimiert dies übrigens gern und stellt eine geteilte Inbox (für die Instanz) zur Verfügung, so daß etwas ein Beitrag von Akteur A auf Instanz A nur einmal an Instanz B zugestellt wird, auch wenn mehrere verschiedene Akteure auf Instanz B Akteur A folgen. Die weitere Verteilung kann dann intern auf Instanz B erfolgen.

Also even for #abled people this is just bad, since a lot of them - like myself - will be sometimes if permanently on #WWAN like #2G, #3G or #4G and thus not download attachments at all, but only the text.

And yes, I do also automatically mark all #HTML - #eMails as #Spam so they won't even show up in my #Inbox.

One of my last #DataLogging work-related goals for the year was to get my email #inbox below 100 items. Let's see if I can keep it in the two-digit range for at least a month next year before things start accumulating again.

I actively file a lot of incoming emails so any left in the inbox items represent things where I feel I'm meant to be doing something.

Not #InboxZero.
