#Meshtastic friends... where do you all source your parts?

I have my Three Amigos of the Mesh up and running.
The T1000-E card tracker is running Meshtastic.
The T-LoRa pager is running Ratspeak / Reticulum.
The Wio L1 is running MeshCore.

Неделю назад перешился с #Meshtastic на #Meshcore - и действительно, в условиях Москвы с неидеальным оборудованием день и ночь.
Но, увы, плотность сети ниже, если в Мышастике в пределах пары кварталов были живые люди, то тут уже расстояния в километры. Интересно, постигнет ли его та же судьба, если плотность вырастет.
Зато из моего колодца сейчас есть связь по области, в Мышастике даже Химки на теоретическом расстоянии в три прыжка были недостижимы. Даже захотелось получше антенну установить.

Nun, #meshcore scheint besser zu funktionieren als #meshtastic . Nach nur 2 Tagen ist hier im Public Channel einiges los und ich werde auch im Umkreis gesehen. Bis jetzt runter bis Bergstraße und östlich bis Maintal. Das liest sich schonmal gut. Natürlich gibt es auch Nachrichten von weit weg, welche aber eher Zufallstreffer sind. Anscheinend nutzen doch noch viele schlicht die Kennung "de". Die habe ich neben unzähligen lokalen Kennungen auch noch auf meinem Repeater aktiv, um so viel wie möglich abzugrasen.

#map nerds! I need to capture the geographic location of six points, both by coordinate and height. I think what I want is a #KML file with six placemarks - correct?
Can anyone recommend a simple #android app for this? Bonus points if #FOSS. To be honest, I don't want to learn all the principles of #GIS #mapping, I just want to generate the data needed to seek approval for this project ( #Meshtastic repeaters in a far corner of the #NRQZ). 😊

@dat Ich beobachte bei mir (Frankenwald/Vogtland) ähnliches. Meshcore bin ich offensichtlich alleine, Meshtasticist recht weit verbreitet.
Spannend ist, dass Bauern Meshtastic nutzen um diverse Sachen zu monitoren, sei es der Füllstand von irgendeiner Tränke auf der Weide oder der Standort von Geräten. Die Mobilfunknetze sind hier sehr löchrig, weshalb übliche Tracker bei denen nicht so gut funktionieren, Airtag und Co. braucht Leute mit Handy, die dort vorbei gehen, was nicht hinreichend oft passiert.
Ich denke diese Art von IOT ist im Moment die sinnvollste Anwendung von #meshcore und #meshtastic

Having fun with #MeshCore which is similar to but in some ways very different from #Meshtastic . A good excuse to do network mapping by bicycle, the pace you go is just about perfect to map out the network without gaps.

How do you imagine this without the electricity? For me DC has onły improvement that we don't need to share with any private data such as phone numbers. This is good but real power is in alternative solutions to the internet such as #Meshtastic. It works without the internet and without fixed repeater stations.

Ok, nachdem ich vor einiger Zeit meinen #meshtastic Kram dem @kresse geschenkt habe, weil ich irgendwie die Lust dran verloren hatte, starte ich nun einen neuen Versuch. Allerdings werde ich diesmal #meshcore versuchen. Mal sehen, was dann so läuft oder ob ich auch wieder nach einem Jahr aufgebe.
