La historia no terminó en Sarajevo.
Los hijos de Francisco Fernando y Sofía —Sofía, Maximiliano y Ernesto— quedaron en una posición incómoda desde el primer momento.
Por el matrimonio de sus padres, no tenían derechos dinásticos ni encajaban en la corte.Fueron apartados y criados lejos de Viena.
Y décadas después, el siglo volvió a alcanzarlos.
Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Maximiliano y Ernesto se opusieron al nazismo.
Eso bastó para que acabaran en el campo de concentración de Dachau, donde sufrieron humillaciones y trabajos forzados.Sobrevivieron, pero quedaron marcados físicamente para siempre.
Es difícil no ver la ironía: los hijos del hombre cuya muerte inició la Primera Guerra Mundial acabaron siendo víctimas directas de la segunda.
Sus padres, por cierto, tampoco descansan con los Habsburgo en Viena.
Están enterrados juntos en el castillo de Artstetten, lejos de las normas que en vida los separaron.Al final, lo que ocurrió en Sarajevo no fue un plan perfecto ni una conspiración impecable.
Fue algo mucho más inquietante.
Una cadena de decisiones humanas, errores y coincidencias que, encajadas en el momento justo, cambiaron el rumbo del siglo XX.
Y eso es lo que da más vértigo.

The thread about the changing face and footprint of the Tron Kirk and why it’s now 5 miles away from where it began
This thread was originally written and published in November 2019.
Historic Environment Scotland tweeted a “Spot the difference?” competition about the Tron Kirk in Edinburgh. It observed the differences in the steeple between a pre-1824 Engraving and a post-1824 photograph. I have animated these into a transition (below)to better show the changes.

Original images © Canmore, 465068 and 421920The obvious change here is that the squat Dutch steeple has been replaced by a much taller stone pinnacle, supported by 4 masonry columns. The reason behind this is the Great Fire of Edinburgh, which started on the day of the original tweet – November 15th – back in 1824. It raged for 5 days, toppling the wooden framed, lead-covered spire of the Tron Kirk in the process. The spire was rebuilt in stone in 1828, but not to its original design. But there’s another, bigger difference between the original Tron Kirk and the one seen in both of these images. Look below. Can you spot it?
The Tron Kirk by John Elphinstone, 1740That’s right – the outer bays are different and there is a whole extra bay window on the left (east) side. The reason is that the whole church had to be “truncated” in 1785 to allow South Bridge to be driven through on one side (the left, East) and Blair Street (the right, West) on the other. Notice also that at this time the tenements on either side were built right up to the church and abutted it, and wooden booths wound their way around the front. There was not really sentimentality at this time in Scotland about the exteriors of churches being particularly sacred; it was what went on inside that was important.

It sounds a bit Norse to me, but I can assure you it’s good Scots, from the Old French Trone. The name dates back to the public weighing beams, which were known as trons. The Salt or Over Tron stood in the centre of the High Steet near where the Tron Kirk was built.

Reproduced with the permission of the National Library of ScotlandThere were other Trons – the Butter Tron stood at the head of the old West Bow – but the Salt Tron was the principal, and it was where all the merchandise imported into Leith had to be brought to be publicly weighed and taxed. It lent its name to a parish forming the south east of the Old Town and the Southside one of the 4 old parishes of Reformation Edinburgh. The Tron parish was created in 1598 but worshipped at St. Giles, which had been split into 4 separate parish churches internally by stone walls after the Reformation. The congregation had been preached to by John Knox and saw themselves as “representing the spirit” of Knox. Coincidentally, Jenny Geddes – of stool throwing fame – was a market seller at the Tron.
If you’re not familiar with the story, she is reputed to have thrown her stool at the minister, Dean James Hannay, when he attempted to preach from the Book of Common Prayer. In those days, if you were common you stood, or brought your own seat to the church. Geddes reputedly shouted “De’il gie you colic, the wame o’ ye, fause thief; daur ye say Mass in my lug?” at the minister. The riot was probably more organised and pre-meditated than the popular tale suggests. Nevertheless, Charles I’s attempt to introduce Anglican service into the Scottish Kirk was a disastrous failure that precipitated a war with Scotland that he lost.
The riot at St. Giles’ on the reading of the Book of Common prayer that formented the Bishops’ War and eventually contributed to the “War of the Three Kingdoms”When Charles I raised Edinburgh from a burgh to a city in (I think) 1638, he also raised St. Giles to Cathedral status as part of his program of Anglicising the Scottish Kirk. As such this displaced the Tron congregation and and a new church was ordered to be built for them. It took 10 years to build in total, by which time the Scots army had handed Charles over to the English parliament. It was ready to be dedicated in 1641 as “Christ’s Kirk at the Tron”, by which time the majority in Scotland was firmly Presbyterian. I think this would make the Tron the first purpose-built Presbyterian kirk in Scotland?
The Town Council of Edinburgh was obliged (reluctantly) to build and pay for the church by Charles I who threatened to withhold tax duties from the city if they didn’t comply. It was built by the King’s master mason, John Mylne, and his brother Alexander. It is for this reason that over the door of the Tron is the crest of the City of Edinburgh (a 3-towered castle supported by a deer and a maiden) plus the engraving (in Latin) “This building the citizens of Edinburgh to Christ and his Church, in the year 1641“

CC-BY-NC National Galleries ScotlandThen along came classical-obsessed Georgians and even Gothic-obsessed Victorians and the appearance of Edinburgh churches took something of a different direction. It was these architects who gave the truncated Tron Kirk it’s enormous spire when it was rebuilt. No apologies offered but I really find Victorian church architecture hugely boring.
As a parish kirk, the Tron was deconsecrated as early as 1952 due to rapid depopulation of Old Town Edinburgh and declining post-war Church attendance rates. The City bought it back, but has struggled to find a use for it ever since. Various craft markets, tat stalls and pop-up bars have come and gone and for extended periods it has been locked up.
The best use it has seen (in my opinion) that it has seen is as a heritage centre. You see, because the Tron is (relatively) new in an Old Town, underneath its wooden floors lurk the foundations and closes of medieval Edinburgh.

When it closed, it did so because the bulk of its congregation departed the Old Town as a result of slum clearances. Many were given new Council houses in the Moredun area of the City, and the congregation moved in to a new parish church, the Moredun Tron Kirk (now Gilmerton & Moredun Tron).

En 2026, la salud corporativa en México enfrenta la presión de sostener beneficios médicos útiles en un entorno de costos crecientes. La Encuesta Global de Tendencias Médicas 2026 de WTW advierte que los costos de salud seguirán creciendo a doble dígito a nivel mundial y que América Latina registrará la aceleración más pronunciada, al pasar de 10.5% en 2025 a 11.9% en 2026. Para las empresas, el desafío es asegurarse de que pueda usarse de manera efectiva.
Ese cambio de enfoque obliga a revisar el papel del Seguro de Gastos Médicos Mayores y Menores dentro de los paquetes de compensación. Aunque sigue siendo una de las prestaciones más valoradas, su diseño responde principalmente a eventos de alto costo. La Asociación Mexicana de Instituciones de Seguros (AMIS) ha señalado que estos productos cumplen una función distinta a la de los seguros de salud orientados a consultas, prevención y seguimiento médico. Una cosa es proteger ante contingencias mayores y otra, facilitar la atención cotidiana.
El problema aparece cuando la cobertura principal tiene barreras de entrada que desincentivan su uso. De acuerdo con la Radiografía de la salud laboral en México, elaborada por Sofía, 30% de las áreas de Recursos Humanos atribuye el bajo uso de estas coberturas a costos altos o deducibles elevados; 29% considera que no responden a necesidades reales, y 25% señala que los empleados no saben que existen o cómo funcionan. –sn–

In Slavic mythology, Perun is the highest god of the pantheon & the god of the sky, thunder, lightning, storms, rain, law, war, fertility, & oak trees. His other attributes were fire, mountains, wind, iris (the flower), eagle, firmament, horses & carts, & weapons (hammer, axe (Axe of Perun), & arrow).
The supreme god in the Kievan Rus’ during the 9th-10th centuries, Perun was first associated with weapons made of stone & later with those of metal. The Kievan Ris’ (a.k.a. Kyivan Rus’) was the 1st East Slavic state & later an amalgam of principalities in Eastern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century. It encompasses a variety of peoples, including East Slavic, Norse, & Finnic.
The Primary Chronicle relates that in the year 6415 (907 AD) Prince Oleg (Old Norse: Helgi) made a peace treaty with the Byzantine Empire & by taking his men to the shrines & swearing by their weapons & by their God Perun, & by Volos, the God of cattle, they confirmed the treaty.
In 980, when Prince Vladimir the Great came to the throne of Kiev, he erected statues of 5 pagan gods in front of his palace which he soon thereafter discarded after his Christianization in 988.
Perun was chief among them, represented with a silver head & a gold moustache. Vladimir’s uncle, Dobrynya, also had a shrine of Perun established in his city of Novgorod. After the Christianization of Kievan Rus’ this place became a monastery, which continued to bear the name of Perun.
Perun was worshipped by the Varangian (Scandinavian) warriors hired by Oleg & Igor during the campaigns against Byzantium. In the treaty of 971, the Varangians reenforce with the Slavic deity, Veles.
When the arrival of Christianity, the old gods fared poorly amongst the Slavs. Grand prince Vladimir the Great, who had once been a very vocal & lavish patron of Perun, converted to Christianity.
In 988, the prince & his family & people of the Kievan Rus’ were collectively baptized. He ordered that the statues of Perun which he himself had erected formerly, be dethroned, torn down with great dishonor & dragged through the streets as they were beaten with sticks. The idols were then cast into rivers & not permitted to land on the shore. 3 of Vladimir’s sons are also recognized as saints.
In neopaganism interpretation, the struggle of St. George with the serpent is understood as the struggle of Perun with Veles, who stole cows from him.
According to the book Dezionization by Valery Yemelyanov, 1 of the founders of the Russian neopaganism, in the ideas of the “Veneti” (“Aryans”), there was a “trinity of three triune trinites”: Prav-Yav-Nav, Svarog-Perun-Svetovid, Soul-Flesh-Power.
In some currents, Perun may be the supreme patron god. Since 1992, the 1st neopagan Kupchinsky Temple of Perun has been in St. Petersburg.

Le 20 février 2026, La Voix des Rroms et l’INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales) organisent une journée de mémoire et de réflexion consacrée au 170ème anniversaire de l’abolition de l’esclavage des Rroms. C’est un événement majeur, mais longtemps passé sous silence dans les récits européens. Intitulée « L’antitsiganisme en héritage », cette rencontre rassemblera historiens, diplomates, chercheurs, artistes et représentants d’institutions engagées pour la reconnaissance de cette histoire et la lutte contre les discriminations contemporaines qui en grande partie en découlent.Un passé longtemps occulté
Pendant près de cinq siècles, les Rroms ont été réduits en esclavage dans les principautés roumaines de Moldavie et de Valachie. Propriété d’institutions religieuses, de nobles ou de l’État, ils étaient achetés, vendus, transmis comme héritage. Cet esclavage, aboli en 1856, reste aujourd’hui encore très largement méconnu du grand public. Or, comprendre cette histoire, c’est aussi comprendre les racines profondes de l’antitsiganisme, ce racisme spécifique qui continue d’exclure et de stigmatiser les Rroms non seulement en Roumanie ou en France, mais sur tout le continent.
De la mémoire à la reconnaissance
L’événement du 20 février, articulé autour de projections, d’une exposition et de tables rondes animées par la journaliste Rokhaya Diallo, vise à ouvrir un dialogue entre passé et présent. L’historien Petre Petcuț, auteur du livre « Les Rroms, les derniers esclaves de l’Europe », y présentera son travail sur ces cinq siècles d’asservissement suivis de quasiment deux siècles de silence, tandis que des représentants de la société civile comme Isabela Mihalache (ERGO Network) ou Saimir Mile (La Voix des Rroms) mettront en lumière les enjeux sociaux et politiques de la reconnaissance de ce pan de l’histoire européenne.
La démarche n’est pas seulement commémorative : elle concrétise une volonté de réconciliation et de justice symbolique, afin que les Rroms ne soient plus perçus à travers les préjugés hérités d’un passé esclavagiste, mais reconnus comme acteurs à part entière de la société européenne.
# Pourquoi cette histoire nous concerne tous
Loin d’être seulement un vestige du passé, l’antitsiganisme demeure aujourd’hui une réalité tangible : expulsions, ségrégation, discours et actes de haine qui vont jusqu’à des assassinats comme celui d’Angela Rostas il y a deux ans dans la Haute-Savoie… Ces violences trouvent leurs racines dans une hiérarchisation historique de l’humanité, dans laquelle les Rroms furent relégués au plus bas de l’échelle sociale.Reconnaître l’esclavage des Rroms, c’est restaurer une vérité historique et démanteler les stéréotypes qui nourrissent encore leur exclusion. C’est aussi un pas vers une Europe plus consciente, plus juste, où la mémoire devient un outil d’émancipation collective.
Le 20 février 2026, nous serons invités à regarder l’histoire en face pour mieux comprendre le présent — et construire un avenir où la diversité ne sera plus source de stigmates, mais une richesse reconnue et célébrée.

En una respuesta urgente a preocupaciones de privacidad, Apple ha publicado una actualización de seguridad crítica para corregir una vulnerabilidad que, según informes, estaba siendo aprovechada por agencias gubernamentales para rastrear usuarios a través de sus notificaciones.
La privacidad de los usuarios de iPhone ha vuelto al centro del debate tras el lanzamiento de iOS 26.4.2.
