Die Autorin erzählt davon, wie sie in der Mitte ihres Lebens völlig unerwartet eine Krebsdiagnose bekommt – als eine der 1%, die ohne Vorerkrankungen oder genetische Prägung an Brustkrebs erkrankt. Anders als zuerst erwartet, erzählt Madeleine von ihrem Ausweg aus der Misere, indem sie über Wege schreibt, wie Trost gefunden werden kann und dabei unter anderem auch auf zwischenmenschliche Umstände eingeht wie etwa, lieb gemeinte aber schlecht umgesetzte Arten ihrer Freund:innen, Trost zu spenden.

    Die Thematik des Buches fand ich super spannend, gut aufbereitet und genau recherchiert – Madeleine beschreibt verschiedene Arten, wie Menschen Trost finden können und thematisiert dabei Tanz, Kulinarik, Tiere, Kunst und Philosophie. Im Buch sind einige Querverweise enthalten, die darauf Lust machen, tiefer in die Thematik einzutauchen. Außerdem gibt die Autorin zahlreiche Tipps, wie man selbst empathisch trösten kann und dadurch für Menschen in schwierigen Situatiuonen eine Stütze sein kann. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist leicht zu lesen, ich finde, dass sie eine lockere Art zu schreiben hat. Insgesamt hat mir das Buch ganz gut gefallen, wobei ich sagen muss, dass es mich nicht zu 100% gecatched hat, dafür war es mir dann doch an mancher Stelle zu seicht und oberflächlich – das Buch war trotzdem interessant, da es rund um das Thema “Trost” wenig Inhalte gibt, die in den letzten Jahren Aufmerksamkeit erhalten haben.
