  1. For the first time in many years I have not rooted my new phone.

It feels a little strange, especially considering I was quite involved in the development of #Magisk a few years ago. And I was also a forum moderator on #XDADevelopers.

Haven't been active in that community in some time, but it still feels like the end of something. Maybe a hint of sorrow, maybe relief?

Oh well... Don't need it anymore and if I ever do I have a bunch of knowledge and expertise to fall back on.

  10. I just realized that I've had my @xdadevelopers account for almost 18 years!

I originally registered an account on #XDADevelopers because it was the go-to forum for #hacking & #modding 1st gen #smartphones like the #HTCBlueAngel (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Blue) and #HTCWizard (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wiza), which were my 1st and 2nd smartphones respectively, back in the early-mid #noughties.

They ran #WindowsMobile, and they featured a slide-out #QWERTY keyboard for relatively fast and precise thumb-typing, a #ResistiveTouchscreen w/ built-in #stylus for taking handwritten notes and drawing pictures, and a rear-facing camera for shooting digital photos on the go. They even came with a mobile version of the #MicrosoftOffice suite, and you could synchronize your documents, spreadsheets, calendar, and contacts with your laptop or desktop by simply dropping the phone into its #USB cradle.

This was all several years before #iPhone and #Android came along. Dang, now I feel even older than usual. 😅

  16. Long live tbe ROMs. I don't root or install replacement ROM anymore but it is what brought me to and still keeps me enthusiastic about Android. From adding things, to breathing new life into abandoned hardware ROMs are a great thing to have around.

  22. I'm on #XDAdevelopers since the times you needed to have at least 10 posts in other forums, before even technically able to post in developer forums threads.

And now I look at a new post in a dev forum thread, from a freshly registered user, randomly giving people advice on how/what flashables to install and what to do in case of problem x.

    No one asked for this.
Did you ask the OP if third party install instructions are wanted?
What's the purpose of this post?

Please, just don't do this 🙄
