I think I finally have found a solution for my umoria/nethack colemak issue. The answer is $XKB_DEFAULT_LAYOUT. I can temporary redefine it to be qwerty.
Edit: I actually tested it and it does not work without restarting
river, my wayland compositor, but there is a command which does that,riverctl keyboard-layoutwhich does that. -

I have read some articles about the Light Phone and other "minimalist" phones. As someone who wrote not one but two articles on my "ideal" phone concept (creative concept photography included), I am always interested in seeing new ideas in the space. I called for open source software, QWERTY keyboard, and an e-ink screen. I also remember Ultima using the [;'/ keys, or even the Return, /, and left and right arrow keys on the Apple ][.
It’s interesting how movement keys used to be right-hand activities until the mouse became popular as a pointing device; then it turned into a left-handed activity. Even in games that aren’t first-person shooters, WASD remains the default movement keys.
PL;' never had a chance!

I love it. It's great & efficient.

yeey, finally got myself XDA keycaps! "3" is a bit blurry and some prints are off-centered, but I'm fine with it (after all, those are sub-dyed, not double shot). and there's bunch of extra keys which's awesooome. having 5 shifts is so funny to me for some reason.
note: I still have hhkb imitation remaps, but I decided to fill (almost) all switches with a cap, so that it looks a bit more normal, but I still play around with those extra keys. :ablobcatbongokeyboard:also read The primitive tortureboard. I was already aware of these myths, but I didn’t know the story behind the Dvorak layout. doubt I'll change my layout though, despite the temptation. I just don't want to get lost on a computer if I'm not in my "perfectly crafter rice with most optimised layout and everything"™
on the other hand, I don't get on someone else's computer that often... -

for a quick update on my #dvorak typing.
i can now type at about 60 wpm consistently. i much prefer it to #qwerty even though i am still less confident with dvorak. i am still able to type in qwerty but it takes a bit of time to activate that muscle memory but i don't really have a reason to switch back unless i am using my #typewriter (i would love to find a dvorak typewriter).
