The fix was already in the kernel — zRAM, a compressed swap block living entirely in RAM. Lenovo compiled it in and never switched it on.
Three ADB commands (animations, bloat, GPS daemons) freed 60MB without touching the bootloader. Then Magisk + a one-line boot script to call swapon.

I was into modding my tablet and phone with CyanogenMod 10 years ago as a mere 14 year old, lol. CWM was losing popularity and TWRP was becoming popular. Magisk was not yet a thing back then
It was all fun until the CMod team chose the other path on that "fork in the road." I wonder where the cyanogen people are now...
