No ładny, ładny ten UT, ale co z tego jak ten sklep to jakaś tragedia. I nie chodzi mi o jakość natywnych aplikacji, tylko o te dziwne ficzery, że np. wrzucając coś do instalacji, ta wcale nie dochodzi do skutku - więc kolejkowanie nie ma sensu bo trzeba wszyskiego pilnować. Że łącząc kalendarz z kontem Nextcloud każde dodane wydarzenie będzie z nim właśnie powiązane... Że niektóre aplikacje działają poprawnie dopiero po resecie urządzenia, a innym to nie pomaga wcale. Że raz musiałem odczekać chyba 60s, aby móc się zalogować bo wpisałem zły pin jak mniemam (ale nie wydaje mi się). No mógłbym tak trochę ponarzekać, bo jest tych drobnych kartofelków kilkadziesiąt... Jak choćby godzina na pasku u góry, której ja nie widzę... Wgl ten pasek to dziwna sprawa, bo jak mniemam kustomizować można wiele rzeczy w terminalu, ale jako takich ustawień w "ustawieniach" jest tylko kilkanaście... Nie wiem czemu ta u góry sekcja jest tak rozbudowana, podczas gdy skrywa w sobie zaledwie kilka funkcji.

No i pulpit... O ja pierdacze - jaki koszmar. To co widać na ekranie jest możliwe do osiągnięcia tylko przy wyłączonych WSZYSTKICH aplikacjach. Nie da się minimalizować aplikacji, ani dzielić ekranu bez instalacji jakichś dodatków, albo zmiany trybu na dex. Ustawienie tapety, to sztuka dla sztuki i dla blokady ekranu.

Blokada ekranu: pozytywne zaskoczenie. Odcisk linii papilarnych działa szybko, przejście do menu wpisywania pinu działa normalnie, ale wygląda pokracznie skomplikowanie (przesuwa się kartę do boku i tam czeka wiersz i klawiatura). Sam ekran blokady też jest ładny i widziałem, że można go nieźle roxbudować w funkcję, czego jednak po prostu nie mam cierpliwości robić ze względu na konieczność korzystania z tego okropnego sklepu.

Given that Google has decided to "boil the frog" by slowly closing off Android, with a significant move towards this happening this September, and given that might impact the development of degoogled AOSP ROM's as well, I've been testing out Ubuntu Touch as a daily driver once again.

I used "UT" as my mobile OS on my daily drivers from 2018-2022, but then carriers in the USA required VoLTE to make calls, which UT did not suppprt at the time. But the past year VoLTE support was added to a number of devices, and tons of other improvements have been made recently for the latest 24.04.2 version I am testing now, which should be released to the public soon. There are a few issues which make this not quite as easy to use as my Android phone still, but grateful for the devs at UBports & the UT community for how many fixes & new features have added in the past few months. https://ubports.com

I used "UT" as my mobile OS on my daily drivers from 2018-2022, but then carriers in the USA required VoLTE to make calls, which UT did not suppprt at the time. But the past year VoLTE support was added to a number of devices, and tons of other improvements have been made recently for the latest 24.04.2 version I am testing now, which should be released to the public soon. Chodzi mi konkretnie o współpracę z: nextcloud, caldev, syncthing, kde connect.

Myślę o kupnie Fairphone 5, ale mam wątpliwości... SailfishOS na pewno nie wspiera aplikacji android i to trochę problem. UT odpala je w kontenerze, a /e/OS i LineageOS to zasadniczo android...

I've bounced from PostmarketOS to Droidian, then back to Ubuntu Touch. Even though UT is arguably less 'pure' (due to its reliance on libhybris and Android HALs) compared to pmOS’s mainline-first stance, the keyboard's terminal integration is just superior. At the end of the day, I’ll take a stable, usable shell over a 'pure' system with a subpar input experience.
