Il 10 ottobre torna il Disability Pride Palermo.
Segna la data e unisciti alla manifestazione internazionale nata per rivendicare i diritti negati delle persone con disabilità.
Quest’anno il Disability Pride Palermo porterà al centro le disabilità rivoluzionarie. Per troppo tempo la disabilità è stata raccontata solo come bisogno di assistenza, cura e protezione. Noi vogliamo raccontarla anche come partecipazione, autodeterminazione e lotta per i diritti.
“Disabilità rivoluzionarie” è un invito a uscire dall’isolamento, occupare lo spazio pubblico e costruire insieme il cambiamento.
La storia ci insegna che i diritti non vengono concessi: si conquistano quando le persone si incontrano, si organizzano, prendono parola e trasformano la propria esperienza in una forza collettiva.

Wir müssen die behindertenfeindlichen Strukturen politisch zerlegen, ihre Macht brechen und sie aus Gesetzen, Behörden und Institutionen reißen. Wir wollen kein Mitleid. Keine Almosen. A huge number of people are disabled. Even if we’re not (we don’t need glasses, we don’t have schizophrenia,…) it’s worth keeping the topic in mind. At the very least because you can join the club at any moment.
The best people I know have a disability. At least one. I feel conflicted about using the term “disability pride” myself, but certainly disability isn’t a thing to be ashamed of.

2026-7-16 There is no division between self and otherI drew this after my recent art workshop in partnership with ME Action! I felt so much connection and awe (also, exhaustion and brain fried ofc).
Thank you everyone who participated in the workshop or helped make it happen in any way. It was truly magic.
P.S. I have art in an art exhibition about art for therapy & health, and I think the exhibit is really incredibly curated. I can’t believe 21 views of long covid received an honorable mention amongst so many phenomenal artists’ & powerful pieces!
