I've learned the hard way that there is an enormous difference between microSD cards in the amount of power they need. When it comes to putting audio recorders out in nature, that matters a lot.
As an example, I was just comparing my latest AudioMoth results with SanDisk Extreme 64GB cards compared with Samsung Pro Plus 128 GB cards last year.
In the same device, with the same dawn-dusk daytime recording settings, on the same three fully-charged Powerex rechargeable batteries, the Samsung card recorded for four days (11 GB) before flattening the batteries, while the SanDisk cards recorded for 12 days (44 GB) before the flattening the batteries.
Given that it takes a lot of time for me to get to these remote sites to deploy these recorders, this makes a big difference to how much data I get.

Ich hätte Lust, mich aktiv bei LibriVox einzubringen (Bücher, die Gemeingut/Public Domain geworden sind, auf Datei lesen).
Problem: Ich bräuchte einen digitalen Audio-Recorder, und zwar auf dem Linux-PC. Über Smartphone möchte ich das nicht machen.
Meine Ansprüche: Mit GUI, einfach zu bedienen, keine Spielereien oder Effekte, die das Menü aufblasen und die Bedienung verkomplizieren. Empfehlungen?

@NatureMC Here it is! Our interview with a rodent, at 6:42 AM on 22 August, while it gnawed into our audio recorder.
A ring-necked pheasant and some blackbirds are calling in the background.
The mammal experts I've spoken to reckon it's mouse rather than rat since the teeth marks are quite small. Well, mouse or mice. It looks a lot like a team effort.
Although, to what end?

We just brought in six audio recorders from across campus at #LincolnUniversityNZ, which students had laid out as part of our long-term monitoring of campus birds.
To our surprise, and annoyance, some pesky varmint has done its best to gnaw right through one of them. I've not seen anything like it before, and we've had these units left out in all sorts of wild places.
Either it's one very hungry rat, or a rat that particularly likes the taste of plastic. Maybe if we can catch it and breed it, there's a potential for plastic recycling rat farms.

My wife got me a Zoom F3 field recorder so I can get higher quality recordings of birds (which was nice). I plugged in my microphone and nothing happened. I handed it back to her and she set it to 24-bit Phantom Power and now it works.
Yes, 24-bit Phantom Power!
Why turn it off and on again when instead you can set it to 24-bit Phantom Power!
(This is probably amusing me more than it should.)
[Edit: @downbeatdan corrected me (thanks). It's 24-volt Phantom Power, not 24-bit Phantom Power. Both seem pretty awesome.]

Actually I was about too post an audio snippet comment, something like:

but I needed to install and test the #fDroid #audioRecorder and check if that one stops recording if other #APP's come into play and luckily it doesn't so I just commented the whole take... feel free to edit with #KDEnlive into the video as you see fit ..

I get to make these videos at work. I edit them using #Kdenlive and had to use the #rotoscoping tool to edited a #MapleBug that wandered on the scene. I use #AudioRecorder from #Fdroid to capture audio then sync in kdenlive. After it all I use #Handbreak to reduce the video size to about 3 to 4 mb from 45mb to post it on a display say city Hall.

*Die Videos werden in Dateien mit 4GB Größe gesplittet, hat vermutlich irgendwas mit #Dateiformaten oder #Dateisystemen zu tun.
*Im #Winter bei #Dunkelheit wird das #Bild entsprechend #dunkel, aber es genügt meinen Ansprüchen soweit.
*Ohne einen #Audiorecorder ist an eine #Form von #Vlog noch nicht zu denken. -
