For ditching Big Tech I was always going to struggle with replacing YouTube.

PeerTube is a great platform but just doesn't have the amount or range of videos.

So I've gone with FreeTube on Linux and NewPipe on GrapheneOS - both are FOSS clients that let you watch YouTube hosted videos without adverts and telemetry.

They feel like YouTube from the 2010s and, as usual with current Big Tech, previous iterations were always better.

Dobrze by było, gdyby #Fediwersum było miejscem, gdzie można być na bieżąco z otwartym oprogramowaniem i użytkownikami - bardziej niż ma to miejscach na konkurencyjnych korporacyjnych mediach tzw. społecznościowych.

Zatem: 📝 od dwóch dni w #NewPipe nie działa odświeżanie kanałów i listy filmów na poszczególnych kanałach. Samo odtwarzanie filmów działa.

Bon bah vu que la récupération des vidéos des chaînes #YouTube est cassée dans toute les apps basées sur #NewPipe (#Tubular, #PipePipe…), il y a #NouTube comme solution de secours, à défaut de mieux.

My advice is just get @FreeTube and #newpipe using the main site or the offical app is shit nowadays and these workarounds are how I consume YT videos nowadays and you can get FT on #linux and NP on @fdroidorg which is a huge plus

Для меня это давно привычные функции: после закрытия #Vanced я пользуюсь #NewPipe без рекламы, с фоновым воспроизведением, скоростью 2.5x, пропуском тишины и возможностью скачивать видео или аудио. Такие мелочи давно стали базой, поэтому новость вызывает скорее улыбку. Отличный пример того, как open-source решения часто удобнее и функциональнее проприетарных. Жаль, что полноценной альтернативы самой библиотеке YT пока нет

أخبار سلبية: شركة NewPipe ستتوقف عن دعم أجهزة Android 5. بدءاً من الإصدار 0.28.7، وذلك بسبب عدم توافق المكتبات الحديثة من AndroidX/Jetpack مع هذه الأجهزة. هذا القرار يرجع إلى أن عدد المستخدمين المتبقين على Android 5 قليل جداً، حيث لم يتم تقديم تحديثات أمنية منذ عام 2018. هذا التغيير قد يؤثر على تجربة المستخدمين الذين يعتمدون على هذه الأجهزة.

#NewPipe et #PipePipe j'ai des bugs a répétition a tel point que je dois sans arrêt relancer l'application ou la box android TV (je n'ai pas ces problèmes sur mobile)

#SmartTube est fonctionnelle, mais il faut se connecter a un compte Youtube, et j'en ai pas :D

#LibreTube s'en sort pas trop mal mais c'est pas encore ca...

et #Flow et #FreeTube certains menus sont carrément inaccessibles via la télécommande .

Me pregunto si hay en esa plataforma algún anuncio que no sea una puta estafa. 🤬
