The new version #Catima ships the #WearOS companion app too!

It’s been a lot of work, but also a good exercise on how to develop a WearOS app that is actually privacy-respecting (i.e. without using any of Google’s messaging frameworks), even though it meant developing a new ad-hoc Bluetooth protocol.

If there’s interest on more privacy-aware WearOS apps, please let me know - I’d be happy to extract the new Bluetooth protocol service into a reusable SDK 🙂

I’ve spent a bit of time lately putting together a #WearOS version of the #Catima app.

This is a feature that has been requested for a while, and a feature that a few other non-free apps that store loyalty cards and barcodes already have.

If you want to try it youself, while the feature is still on a branch:

1. Download the WearOS APK directly from https://s3.fabiomanganiello.com/fabio/apk/catima-wearos-debug.apk

2. Build it yourself

cd Catima
git checkout feat/wearos
./gradlew :wear:assembleDebug

Je cherche un moyen de gérer mes voyages en trains mieux qu'avec les emails... J'ai un téléphone #android ( #e_os pour être exact 😉 ).

J'ai essayé #KDE Itinerary qui semble parfais sur le papier, mais sur mon petit téléphone l'appli est assez inutilisable. Cependant je n'ai rien vus d'Open source d'équivalent.
Il y a #Catima qui permet de gérer des cartes qui s'en rapproche un peu, mais c'est clairement pas fait pour des voyages.

La fonction qui me manque le plus c'est juste : enregistrer mes billets quelque part et les voir apparaître le jour J !

Muszę to przetestować na danych jakiejś młodzieży. Może zadziała.

A gdyby tak jeszcze kody TOTP pojawiły się w #catima, no ale najpierw trzeba sprawdzić czy to działa.

Jeśli ktoś z Was ma swoją apkę żabki (jakoś nie sądzę, ale kto nie pyta tan się nie dowie) to może też ma ochotę sprawdzić czy i jak to działa.

o que pasa é que antes, hai tempo, non era compatible con algún .pkpass que tiña e instalei #FossWallet e quedou aí, que tampouco estorba nin lle conta a túa vida a gugle. Non coma outras!.

Podes engadir billetes de transporte, o carné da biblioteca, a tarxeta do súper, etc. e agrupala e porlles colorinchis etc :sorrisosloth:

@jonathan859 Nice article. I had very similar experience a few months ago. My only difference is that I'm running this on Pixel 9A.

In order to give some more tips on what to explore next I'd say add @IzzyOnDroid repo to your f-droid install from apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/

Then some nice and accessible #opensource apps are:

Perhaps there are more but I have browsed my apps list and recommended what I think is essential.

@schufrau Ich nutze auch #PassAndroid für Bordkarten und Konzerttickets etc., #Catima für Mitgliedausweise usw. Beides funktioniert problemlos...

De QR code van onze Colruyt Xtra kaart die ik in #catima had werkte niet meer aan de kassa.
En inderdaad, als ik ze vergelijk met de code in de xtra app dan is ze verschillend.

No problemo dacht ik, even opnieuw instellen.

Maar de content die ik scan van de xtra app QR code is dezelfde als ik in catima had, en als ik met een andere tool een QR code genereer met wat ik scan ziet die er ook anders uit, dus het ligt niet aan catima.

Really glad to see #Catima being so diligently developed. Easily one of my most used phone apps.

Even if some of the loyalty card barcodes that companies use are intentionally obfuscated to get you to use their own app, or at a stretch Google Wallet, they won't stop me finding a way to get them stored in Catima!

Certainement l'application téléchargée sur @fdroidorg que j'ai le plus utilisée cette année: Catima.

Un gestionnaire de cartes de fidélité open source, hébergeant les données en local et respectueux de la vie privée.

C'est tout ça de moins à trimballer dans son porte-monnaie!

@KeksKopf naja aber mit #Catima oder anderen gehen die dann ja datenschutzfreundlich und frei.

Aber klar, akkulos hat Vorteile. Ich hab die jetzt in der Handyhülle, weil ich sie sonst evtl vergessen würde.
