Working on Flathub metadata today.
Learned that if categories and keywords are already defined in the desktop file, there’s no need to define them again in metainfo, as they would override the desktop values.

PSA: If you're trying to build a #Flatpak in #Debian 12 using the 24.08 SDK, and it crashes with

bwrap: execvp appstream-compose: No such file or directory

you need to install a more recent version of flatpak-builder. A compatible one is available from bookworm-backports.

@wilfredh the #AppStream format, which is utilized by many package managers now (e.g. #Flatpak) and a lot of applications ship and maintain now AppStream data supports exactly this through the "description" and "fixes" field of a release:
