  1. I'm very sad to hear that #PeterDavid has passed away. He was one of those writers (in comics and in text) who I would buy just because I saw his name on the cover. Witty, biting, and imaginative. My condolences to his family (about whom he wrote extensively).

#RIP sir. Thanks for the laugher and entertainment and provoked thoughts.

  2. I'm old enough to remember when #DennisPrager was an interesting contrarian who brought an insightful Judeo-Christian perspective to moral issues.

Over the years, he's devolved into a profit-seeking #Republican hack, wrapping himself in a religious flag.

  3. In an effort to post something cheerful and non-screechy today ... here's my new favorite Christmas-themed video, via my son (who knows me too well).

  4. #Trump and #Vance, et al.: "Organizations should absolutely be able to fire employees who post things on social media that they object to! The #FirstAmendment doesn't apply!"

Trump Appointee fired from #Semiquincentennial Commission: "How dare they fire me for something I posted on social media?! It's a clear First Amendment violation!"

  5. Okay, I've nothing to say about Jimmy Rane at the moment, but realizing the US has its 250th birthday coming up in 2026 just strangely upped the stakes of the #November2024 election.

Or, put another way, who would you rather see presiding at endless #semiquincentennial celebrations, #Trump or #Harris?

Frankly, I can't imagine a greater embarrassment to such an historic moment than #DonaldJTrump.

  6. Yeah, it's a GREAT sign when your membership symbol, the whole status thing you've been touting as an eagerly-sought feature of a subscription, becomes something you have to let people HIDE to avoid mockery. #ElonMusk #Twitter #x #bluecheck

  7. Defense Secty #Hegseth has both halted all #genderaffirming medical procedures for active-duty service members and frozen all promotions for #military with "a history of #genderdysphoria ."

This is what prejudice and hate, draped in the American flag, looks like. The same memo promises that military #trans folk will be treated "dignity and respect," when the whole rest of the memo is about anything but.

  8. "DOJ moves to boot federal judge from Perkins Coie case"

Next move for the #Trump regime: if a #judge doesn't rule in your favor, use the power of the Federal Government to seek their removal from cases, which petition then justifies appealing anything that comes from such cases.

I suspect #impeachments of #judges who don't do as they're told by the executive branch, using Trump's captive #GOP #Congress, will be next.

  9. If I were #AbeLincoln and I woke up in "my" bathroom at the #WhiteHouse and it looked like this ... I'd be terrified that I had awakened as an Egyptian Pharaoh and was trapped in a pyramid somewhere.

  10. As #KevinMcCarthy starts to pay off the #GOP folk who got him his desperately desired Speaker's gavel. #Gosar , #MTG , #Boebert ... hey, what's wrong with appointing a few wackadoodles into the organizations that vet legislation and run investigations? I mean, don't we all feel safer knowing that Marjorie Taylor "911 was a government fake, and so was Jan 6" Greene is overseeing Homeland Security?

  13. "New Jersey school yearbook photo of Jewish group swapped with Muslim students was a ‘highly unfortunate error,’ probe finds"

Granted it wasn't my ox being gored here, but "someone made a negligent mistake laying out pictures in the #yearbook" is not only a pretty common thing, but the idea that there need to be CONSEQUENCES for the goof strikes me as... counter-productive.

  14. Calling Microsoft's default font #Calibri #woke because it's easier to read is like calling concrete woke because it's easier to walk on.

  15. I also watched "Wonder Woman 1984" for the first time last night, as part of my #DCEU rewatch. And every time I think about it, I get more angrily disappointed. 2.5/5, and that's being overly generous.

  17. I'm really trying, as #incandescent and #CFL bulbs burn out to replace them with #LEDs, for the sake of power and not having to replace them all the time.

But, Holy Tesla, Batman, the multi-axial jumble of lumens, temperature, wattage, wattage rough replacement, dimmability, and socket type makes everything feel like a crap shoot. And I expect that a lot of less tech-savvy consumers are even more confused, esp. when you get beyond simple lamp bulbs.

  18. For the first time in a few years we're holding our holiday open house -- which we always do in January, calling it a #TwelfthNight get-together, because December is always awful to schedule things in.

  20. In case you needed one, another reminder that #DonaldTrump must be allowed nowhere near the #WhiteHouse, lest his second term make his first look like the model of probity and good governance.

Take his plan to appoint #MikeDavis as temporary AG, just long enough for a (his words) " #ReignOfTerror ," firing as many as he could from DoJ, indicting every one of Trump's perceived enemies, then leaving town with a #pardon in his pocket. :ablobfoxdundundunowo:
