Reach that point again where I do not want to GM anything. I have ideas and interests, but when I think about the worked needed to do it and the social labor of organizing the game, blech.

I really need to be a player sometime. Disliking all the effort placed in running things for decades but rarely getting to sit back and just be a player (which I still prep for, but it is far less intense).

I built a thing for #daggerheart GM's. https://nowfearthis.app is an encounter builder and tracker. Add any adversary or encounter from the SRD, modify them however you like, and keep track of HP, Stress, and Conditions for multiple instances. Track Fear between sessions, and group encounters by campaign if desired.

You can save all your data in a straightforward JSON format. If you've homebrewed some fun adversaries, you can export all your custom statblocks and share them with others to import.

It's free and open source and works entirely offline (you can download from https://codeberg.org/sandyarmstrong/nowfearthis and run your own copy if you prefer, it's just standard HTML/JS). No accounts, no cookies, no tracking.

I'm using it for the games I run and it's been super helpful. I hope it can help you out too. Let me know if you run into any issues or think of ways to improve. The next big thing I'm adding is support for Countdowns. Maybe I'll make it prettier too. Enjoy!

Sometimes I wonder if my players have gotten too good at system mastery in Pathfinder. It can be increasingly difficult to challenge them in combat encounters and sometimes the numbers just get insane very, very quickly. But then, I step back a moment and see they're having fun and lean into the ridiculousness. Number go up, bad guy go down, laughs and smiles all around!

Just putting this out into the universe: I'm winding down the only game I'm currently running in the next couple weeks, and I never get to actually be a player. RPGaDay 2024 Day 14: "Great character gear"

As a #ForeverGM, I like gear that lets me feed information to the players. Could be a journal, a hard drive, or the Necronomicon. "Your character remembers a reference in the blog of that poor guy who disappeared a decade ago looking into the very thing y'all are investigating now."

Mentally and emotionally exhausted, but in a good way!
Last Thursday we had the "End of Book" fight for the #ShatteredStar #Pathfinder game I'm running and it was a big one! There are some things I didn't pull off as well as I envisioned them, but when at the end of a session a player says "If this was a show I would definitely be rewatching this!" I know I did well.

Game night is back! It was a long break due to the holidays, but time to return to the #ShatteredStar campaign. I expect today's session to largely be a wash since we haven't played in over 2 months, but it'll be great to get going!

My throat is still raw, but man was it worth it.
Yes, I fully expect that to be taken out of context. #Pathfinder session last night was a big talkie one; PCs rescued a prisoner who was able to fill in a number of background gaps for them, but there's still mysteries to solve. They also were taunted by the villain they're currently after; she's not concerned because despite their boasting about beating the odds... they're bringing her something she wants anyway.

I had one of those amazing moments as a #foreverGM at game this past Sunday. With one of the players, I've been building up a character in the background slowly through side 'sessions'; a major mover in the past who's faded into myth and the party has only recently come around to the idea that the player's character isn't making this up or dreaming it.
Well, this last session they finally got to share with the party... and the #BBEG was along for the reveal!

I'm feeling a bit envious of people on dice.camp who keep posting statuses about their ttrpg projects or games or what have you.

While I'm not currently running anything, the thing is... I have a project of my own, too. It's just that... It doesn't feel like something worth writing about.

But since this is a dedicated ttrpg server. Let's give it a try, anyway!

Broadcast; telegraph; whatever you want to call it, we as GMs need to let our players know when a big attack or ability is on the way. It's something that video games do well, some sort of tick or wind-up to let you know to DODGE. But it's something I've struggled with for a while, I'm getting better about it, but I'm not quite there yet. "the ooze reaches out grasping at you"; "a giant pulls its club back for a big swing"; "the dragon draws in a breath".

In a rather early post here, I mentioned my 3 Laws of Gaming. The first of which I thought was very clever. "The story that comes out of a session is more important than the story that goes into it." But whenever I've mentioned it, it seems like other people don't get my meaning. It's more or less my version of "play to find out," but as a #foreverGM , i phrased it that way to inform my prep.

#Hobbystreak for today is finishing up the #foreverGM screen! This is a very cool set, packs up nicely and has room inside for dice towers, boxes, etc.. I just haven't printed them yet, so it packs even smaller than the photo. Super excited to use it Sunday for #Pathfinder.

Tried to post this last night but was having #certbot issues. Current #Hobbystreak project - #3dprinting a GM screen for #Pathfinder along with a travel box to keep the #foreverGM goodies in. Initiative trackers, dice boxes, and a small pencil box all should fit inside.
Three "gold" filament is a bit more yellow than I'd like; debating if I could prime and paint it.

Fellow #foreverGM s, how do you handle characters getting information about their foes? As in they encounter something and it ends with one or the other side getting away. They know they'll face it (or something similar) again, so they want to ask around and prepare. How do you handle that? I'm asking both mechanically and #roleplaying terms.

Just finished my first game of the #DragonWarriors #TTRPG. Friends in high school had a campaign running, but as I was a #ForeverGM for my own group, I never got to play. The British Old School strongly influenced my early gaming style; DW was welcome nostalgia for that aesthetic, even if the mechanics seem a little flaky by modern standards.

Question for #GM and #DM. What is the most amount of games you have run in a week? How do you handle running multiple games and do you like doing it?
