  1. @joergi @apps @Tusky @IceCubesApp @Mastodon @FediTips With #MonaApp by @MonaApp you can „explore other communities“ - there you can select other instances to browse there public timeline- as far as I understand this - haven’t used it yet.

  3. Read a bunch of articles from @FediTips website about navigating the #Fediverse and I want to summarize some stuff I learned as a beginner.

  4. I see lots of fedizens posting helpful #feditips for newbies.

I've just emigrated to a new community here which looks like a nice fit for me. But rather than importing all my following/ers over decided to make a fresh start (kinda).

I followed a few of the most valuable posters here, but the thing I would recommend more than anything if you are coming from twatter - #FollowHashtags & use them mindfully. Even if you follow only a handful of accounts, you'll have lots of good stuff on Home feed.

Oh... That's interesting... When I highlight a name to follow on @Tusky it does say, do you want to block everyone from this instance. Imagine if I blocked myself from myself to ensure I didn't see my content by me but was blocked from unblocking myself #strange #toofunny

"Do you want your posts to be seen by as many people as possible on here?"

If so, it's important to use hashtags. Hashtag searches are the main way people find posts on the Fediverse. If a post doesn't have hashtags, people probably won't see it in search results.

Don't worry about using too many tags! As long as they are relevant, it is fine to have lots of tags. Many put a long list of them at the end of the post.

Also, if you are using tags, it's important to set the post's visibility to "Public" so that the post appears in search results.

On Mastodon you can set a post's visibility by clicking the visibility icon at the bottom of the post when you're writing it (the icon looks like a globe
    🌐 , lock 🔒 or @ sign).

You can set your default post visibility by logging in through the website and going to Preferences > Other > Posting Privacy, select the default you want and click "Save Changes".

    #FediHelp #FediDirectory

I have successfully added my pixelfed account to the Fedi Directory using:

    https://fediverse.info/explore/people

However, when trying to add my Calckey account, I received errors.

If I try by the url, I receive the error:
    "Problem Reaching Account Server"

If I try by my web finger, I receive the error:
    "Server Error"

I tried yesterday, 27 April, and again today 28 April with the same results.

Is there another method? Or how can I learn what these errors mean, in order to correct the issue?

  17. @azemon post your query and hash it #feditips & #Newbie & #Mastodon Generally some kind soul will spot it. If it’s something specific like “how the hell do I attach a header pic” maybe just hash #headerImage You can also ask one of your servers sys admins.
