1975 U.S. pressingA stellar early evening slice of cool #jazz .
It would make sense that I really love this record, seeing that I’m a fan of Bill Evans. There’s some similarities here in the music, but BEIRACH stretches things out into a more atmospheric and pensive direction in some spots.
It’s far more romantic sounding and less in-your-face as some of Bill’s recordings.There’s a 12 minute version of Miles Davis’ “Nardis”, another piece that was long associated with Evans.
Here, it comes off very hypnotic.Eon is a very underrated album from that whole mid-#70s ECM period.

Tons of great bands that would go on to be important cult/underground acts like Modern Eon, Nightmares In Wax, Clock DVA, and Section 25.
It’s a great varied mix of cool music.
There’s even some icy industrial stuff here, as well as some atmospheric and experimental things, as well as some very melodic new wave.Phenomenal comp.

2023 Spain Ltd. Edition reissueA phenomenal note-perfect songwriting masterpiece for a fine Saturday afternoon.
It baffles my mind that this album was only a commercial success in the Netherlands when it came out in ‘71.
Sure.
NOW it’s recognized as the stroke of genius that it is, but how could have people missed it back then?More than anything else, White Light shows that Clark was the true heartbeat of The Byrds.
The lyrics are poetry, the music absolutely sublime. Incredible countrified melodies. Just amazing on all fronts.Listen to his take on “Tears Of Rage” and tell me his isn’t the best version.
I dare you.

Truly one of the greatest songwriters to ever walk the Earth, and a flawless album front to back.
It’s actually quite embarrassing.
There isn’t a song on this record that’s not great.
Not GOOD…
GREAT.A true one of a kind talent the likes we’ll never see or hear again.
If you’ve never seen it, go on YouTube and watch his final appearance on Letterman.
Zevon was dying, and Dave gave him the WHOLE show that night.Even on death’s door, he performed immaculately, and in the interview was funny, self-deprecating and fully the Warren we’ve always known.
It’s a remarkable and incredibly emotional watch.Excitable boy, they all said.
He sure was.
Just the greatest.

Two masters collaborating for the second time; most effectively on the beautiful title track, and the near 29 minute headfuck that is “An Index Of Metals”, which takes up the entirety of Side 2, which simmers and drones, becomes more distorted, disturbing and disfigured as it unfolds.
Truly one of the fifteen or so best #ambient #minimal albums of all time.

It’s hard to believe nobody really gave a shit about this when it came out.
Harvest absolutely loathed it.
It’s that age old story of “no singles, can’t sell it”.
Harvest claimed there was no money to promote it, but it’s 1971, and they were Harvest, so that’s clearly bullshit.It’s 2026 now, and we’ve known for a very long time how fucking brilliant it is. It’s by far Harper’s best album, and it’s even got a guest guitar solo on it from Jimmy Page (of course it does).
Johnny Marr of The Smiths cites this as a favorite of his, and calls it “Hunky Dory’s bigger, badder brother.”
High (and much deserved) praise.
Just a mind blowing early #70s masterpiece.

The Real Kids were from my neck of the woods in Boston, Ma., and a pretty much just known for their signature classic “All Kindsa Girls”.
This compilation gathers that first great single (and its b-side) from ‘77, as well as some alternate takes from that first great self-titled record on Red Star, as well as some demos.
A great little outfit that was born out of John Felice leaving The Modern Lovers.

There’s be few guitarists who haven’t heard of the Fender Telecaster – in fact it’s a guitar that is probably on most rockers’ wish lists.
Created in 1950 but first introduced on the commercial market in 1951, this year marks the Fender Telecaster’s 75th anniversary. In celebration, Fender are releasing a series of ‘tribute’ designs in new colours including the American Ultra II Telecaster and the Classic Cabronita Telecaster, available now at au.fender.com.

The Telecaster was the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar, designed by its namesake Leo Fender. Originally called the Broadcaster, it quickly evolved into the Telecaster and became a cornerstone of modern music. I has a simple, rugged design but the sounds it makes are as indelible as the artists and bands’ names themselves.
Many legendary musicians have embraced the Telecaster, including Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Page, and Graham Coxon. Indeed, the Telecaster’s versatility has seen it span genres as broad as rock and country to jazz and punk.
There’s a bright, cutting tone to the Telecaster, as a result of its dual single-coil pickups and bolt-on neck construction. This clarity allows it to slice through a song mix effortlessly, making it a favourite for both rhythm and lead playing across decades of music history.
Iconic songs that feature the Fender Telecaster include Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” The Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up,” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.” Known for its versatile “twang,” it was used on The Beatles’ Let It Be sessions and on the song “Killing In The Name” by Rage Against The Machine.
Other classics on which you’ll hear its twangy strings are The Police’s “Message in a Bottle”, Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line”, Pink Floyd’s “Off the Wall”, Red Hot Chili Peppers “Dani California”, Blur’s “Song 2”, and PJ Harvey’s “Missed”.

Not as raw and heavy as their first, but more raw and heavy than their most recent…but all of their stuff is choice. It’s also the first album of theirs I was exposed to, so there may be some nostalgia involved.
I had the luxury of seeing them live a few years ago with my best friend. I’m at an age where I wore “audiophile earplugs” which honestly performed excellently, I will wear them again. I hope to see this band again. A new album is coming out in just a few months!
