  12. WILLIE NELSON
    The Willie Way
    1972 U.S. pressing

    Oh, Willie.
    Take me away…

It’s been a rough morning, following an even rougher night.

So my ass is staying home today and just feeding off of comfort music all day.

I’m gonna start with my KING of comfort, and my favorite album of his that I own.

A no more appropriate song for today than “Wake Me When It’s Over”.

Whatever way the “Willie Way” is, I’m all in.
I imagine it involves copious amounts of top-shelf weed.

  17. Released today 54 years ago:

    🇬🇧 David Bowie "John, I'm Only Dancing" – 1972

One of Bowie’s great non-album singles from the Ziggy Stardust era. The lyrics were deliberately provocative for 1972, with their ambiguous sexuality contributing to the song’s reputation. RCA considered it too risqué for an American release at the time. In Britain it reached No. 12 in the singles chart...

Buffet Hotel de la Gare Bamako, Mali, 1973: Rail Band, the official orchestra of the Malian state railway, drops their self-titled LP. 32. VARIOUS ARTISTS
All Ears (10 New And Original Hits With A CB Theme)
    1977 U.S. pressing

Quite the ridiculous record that I just couldn’t pass up, because it looked JUST like my kinda stupid.

Made for Radio Shack in the mid #70s , this is a collection of songs that all have a CB theme to them.

Rock, jazz, R&B, gospel, soul… this thing is ALL over the place, but all the songs drive down the Citizens Band 2-Way radio highway.

In all honesty, there’s some pretty good tunes on here. “Honey Bee (Please Answer Me)” by Randy Goodrum is a particular standout for me, as is “Everybody's Somebody (In Our C.B. World)” by Ed Bernet.

    For only $1.00, I couldn’t go wrong.
Pretty entertaining shit, straight down to the “Index Of Terms Used By CB’ers” on the back cover.

    10-4, good buddy.
    Over and out.

#curtismayfield #superfly #70sfilms #70smusic #rnb #soul #music #musicsky #musiciansky My first movie soundtrack purchase ... the soundtrack and movie released the same day ... July 11, 1972. It's a standout work of funk and soul. Both the movie and Curtis Mayfield also took on some of the most pressing social concerns of the day like drugs, poverty and street life. While the film was the subject of criticism for glamorizing the lifestyle of the drug dealer…

Top Of The Pops 29 April 1971

Many of the pre-1975 editions of TOTP were taped over due to the expense of video tape.

This is one that survived - and the reason for posting it is at 22m00s Rod Stewart and The Faces do 2 live numbers - and they're flippin' magic.

Pretty sure it's only Rod who's singing live for the 2nd number to a TV track.

The quality is awesome for 1971 too.
