2023 Worldwide Remastered Reissue

A masterpiece of the #shoegaze genre.
I have as much reverence for this as I do Ride’s Nowhere or Slowdive’s Souvlaki.

This remaster is phenomenal sounding! Clearer and louder, but not in any off-putting way. It’s very tastefully done, and it sounds the best it’s ever sounded.

The odd time signatures on a few of the songs has always been its most endearing quality for me. The guitars are great (super trippy and psych sounding), but it’s those rhythmic structures that have always stood out most.

“Ordeal” is mind-bendingly heavy and massive, “Throwing Back The Apple” is jangly and pastoral, and “Thread Of Light” features a beautiful vocal Meriel Barham.

Their final, and what I think is their BEST record.
I know I’m in the minority there, but it is.

1991 South Korea pressing

The Alyssa Milano album wasn’t the only South Korean pressing I scored from my local shop today.

Was more than happy to snag a unique pressing of THIS as well, and the price was more than right.

And as far as I can tell, it’s a pretty decent sounding issue. You’re always taking a gamble on Russian and Korean records, but this sounds very good to me.

The shop had an INSANE amount of South Korean presses come through the door this week. Lots of #90s metal and alternative rock like Megadeth, Suzanne Vega, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Soul II Soul, Bruce Springsteen, and TONS more.

I really like the insert for this.

I’m a huge fan of Peter Murphy’s solo albums, and to be honest, I love them WAY more than any Bauhaus album. I even prefer Dali’s Car to Bauhaus.

I was overjoyed when they reissued all of these, in particular THIS and Holy Smoke (my two favorites).

Cascade is a much more electronic-tinged and atmospheric effort than previous ones. The songs are very melodic with some ambient flourishes, loops, keyboards, and VERY well produced.

“I’ll Fall With Your Knife” is a GREAT song, as is “Wild Birds Flock To Me”, and the record on whole is quite refined.

Not hardcore Murphy fans’ favorite, but definitely a favorite of mine.

Feeling a little under the weather today, so I’m just having a quiet, chill day in bed listening to some chill and relaxing music.

This BOC album is an absolute classic; downtempo #HipHop rhythms mixed with analog synths to combine a delicious cocktail of dream-like warmth.

It’s a musical environment that is both very comforting and very eerie and spectral.

One of the great defining albums of the #90s snd truly the very first “electronic” album I ever fell in love with.
My love for it will never wane.
