Idc what people say/think, #TimCook to me is not only an excellent CEO at #Apple, seemingly a great person (diplomacy with Trump aside), but I honestly think he's the best leader at Apple even compared to #SteveJobs. Jobs is obviously iconic, and fundamental... but I honestly think it's thanks to Cook that not only we get some amazing products under him - #AppleWatch, #AirPods, #AppleSilicon, etc. but also, they're also all more accessible and affordable than ever? That was never true during Jobs' era, and I don't think it would've been had he been still alive today. Ngl, super curious to see how true that'd continue to be in the next #JohnTernus era.

Nueva York.- John Ternus toma este martes las riendas de Apple, convirtiéndose en el segundo consejero delegado de la compañía desde la salida de Steve Jobs en 2011 y poniendo fin a los 15 años de Tim Cook al frente del gigante tecnológico.
Ternus afrontará una etapa marcada por la evolución de la inteligencia artificial (IA), el encarecimiento de los componentes y la necesidad de encontrar nuevos productos capaces de repetir el éxito del iPhone.
A sus 51 años, llega al cargo con una amplia experiencia en ingeniería de hardware, área que dirigió en Apple durante los últimos años, y tras participar en el desarrollo de productos como el Apple Watch, los AirPods y las gafas Vision Pro.
Su principal reto será acelerar la estrategia de Apple en IA. Aunque la empresa, que hoy subía un 2,1 % en bolsa tras la apertura de Wall Street, ha anunciado nuevas funciones y mejoras para Siri, todavía tiene pendiente demostrar que puede convertir sus avances en productos y servicios capaces de competir con el ritmo de empresas como OpenAI o Google.
Los retos de diversificación para Apple
Al margen, Apple ha encarecido en los últimos meses algunos Mac y iPad y los analistas esperan que los mayores costos puedan terminar repercutiendo también en el iPhone.
La compañía afronta además el desafío de diversificar su negocio. Durante el mandato de Cook nacieron productos como el Apple Watch y los AirPods, pero ninguno alcanzó el impacto del iPhone, mientras que las ventas de Vision Pro han quedado por debajo de las expectativas.
Apple trabaja ahora en nuevas categorías, entre ellas dispositivos para el hogar, robots, AirPods con cámaras y unas gafas inteligentes, en un momento en que compañías como Meta y Google avanzan en este último segmento.
El primer gran examen público de Ternus llegará el 9 de septiembre, cuando Apple presente su nueva generación de iPhone y Apple Watch.
Cook, que pasa a ser presidente ejecutivo, seguirá vinculado a la compañía y mantendrá entre sus funciones las relaciones con responsables políticos, un papel especialmente relevante para Apple ante las tensiones comerciales y arancelarias que afectan a su cadena de suministro. –sn–
