For those who run #ProsodyIM as #xmpp server, I did something simple but effective in my failover architecture:

• 2 Prosody instances in two different regions in a datacenter
• lsyncd syncing from primary to stand by instance all data
• an entrypoint script supervising Prosody execution
• a lock file controlling if entrypoint script can up Prosody
• a daemon checking if floating ip is linked to hosts and controlling the lock file and the lsyncd execution and configuration to primary/standby modes

Perfect solution? Of course not.
Effective solution? Hell yeah.

Ранее мы рассматривали различные варианты балансировки нагрузки (HTTP, L4) с помощью Angie. Однако мы обходили стороной вопрос отказоустойчивости. Балансировщик становится единой точкой отказа для системы, и эту проблему необходимо решать. Одним из решений является использование протокола VRRP для организации отказоустойчивого кластера — его мы и разберём в этой статье.

vPC/MLAG: сравнение Eltex с Cisco и Huawei

Привет, Хабр! Меня зовут Никита Николайчук, я – ведущий инженер по сетевым технологиям. В 2025 году далеко не все компании могут позволить себе Cisco Nexus или Huawei Cloud Engine. При этом я пока еще не встречал статьи, которые бы описывали особенности внедрения и эксплуатации vPC (которая MLAG) пары российских вендоров. И начать хочется с Eltex. Безусловно, вы можете найти инструкции от вендора (достаточно подробные и понятные), однако в этой статье я постараюсь показать особенности реализации (или не реализации) некоторых наиболее популярных фич, к которым мы так привыкли, эксплуатируя Cisco и Huawei. Данная статья в некотором смысле представляет собой сравнительную таблицу для трех вендоров, при этом акцент сделан на логику работы и архитектуру коммутаторов Eltex MES (просто потому что про Cisco и Huawei сказали все и всё). After setting up a new #Keepalived #vrrp setup on a #Debian 12 (bookworm) machine, the track_scripts were ignored. As it turns out, the order in the config file is important!

I had to mess with #dns cause.. I don't fucking know! Anyways I got 2 #dnsdist boxes and noticed the second one aint really getting any traffic. So I decided to move it to more of a failover rather than an active one. #vrrp ( keepalived) for the win!

Умный дом на openHAB+MQTT+Arduino. Часть 1: Кластер

Изначально была мысль повысить доступность openHAB средствами виртуализации. Ставим два гипервизора, настраиваем High availability, при отказе хоста виртуалка с openHAB перезапустится на соседнем сервере. И все бы ничего, но для работы HA нужно общее хранилище. Какой-то NAS допустим у меня есть, но выход его из строя даже более вероятен, чем отказ хоста. А городить что-то на DRBD или подобном не хотелось. Поэтому было решено кластеризовать openHAB другим способом. см. рисунок ниже

This #VR indie game #Aexia is looking interesting. It's like #Roll20 or #Foundry. A virtual tabletop but entirely in virtual reality.

I can't help to think how nice it would be if #VRChat had a toolbox or inventory system built inside it like this. Then you'd already have access to a vast library of avatars and maps and a platform that most roleplayers are already familiar with. Building in #Blender & #Unity.

#ifstate 1.8.5 has been released:

This release contains a important fix: it could happen that link settings are not correctly applied while ifstate does not show any error. This happens when the kernel does not report any errors. One of this settings is the vlan_id for vlan links 😱

When running as #VRRP fifo script for #keepalived it is now possible to trigger a config reload by SIGHUP.

Updates are available for #AlpineLinux edge + 3.18.
