  6. As #mosquito ranges expand, better monitoring is key to preventing #disease
Monitoring is expensive and labor intensive. But it helps #publichealth officials stop #outbreaks.
In Connecticut statewide mosquito monitoring program has 54 different species, including invasives like Asian tiger mosquito, which can transmit diseases including dengue and Zika. Mosquito’s historical territory is in hot and humid climates farther south, but moving north.

  16. Antispeciesism includes parasites like leeches mosquitos and bedbugs.

There are non-lethal ways to protect yourself from parasites.

No one chooses what species they are born in to and villainising moralising or stereotyping parasite species helps nobody but it does reinforce human supremacy and anti-insect speciesism

Ever noticed how in fiction insectoids are almost invariably unintelligent evil or ravenous beasts and humanoids can be approachable and reasonable: that is an example of anti-insect speciesism

  27. "How are you dealing with all the mosquitoes?" asked neighbor 5 doors away. We have almost no mosquitoes. We have two mosquito dunk buckets, a purple martin house with loads of bug-eating birds, and we have plants that the frogs seem to like. That neighbor has grass. Americans, smdh.

Another neighbor complained about JuneBugs. I haven't seen any this year.
I guess these efforts are working!
