🦟 NEW: Researchers tested how three South #Florida mosquito species, Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, and Culex quinquefasciatus, responded to 119 human volunteers using a device that let #insects approach without biting.

They matched each species to specific #skin odors and bacterial communities. Each #mosquito favored different #microbes, and no single person attracted all three species.

Algo distinto percibió aquel mosquito. Algo tuvo que retenerlo sin conciencia ni razón. Algo que dado su instintiva falta de juicio no podríamos explicar. Saciado de sangre seguía encaramado a la piel, y la propia quitina que formaba su cutícula empezó a vibrar de una manera leve pero concisa para los de su especie, llamándolos a beber de aquel maná único.
Pronto había dos dípteros más adheridos al cuerpo. Tres. Cuatro. Diez. Veinte. Llegado el momento, había tantos insectos como espacio visible tenía ella al descubierto y, lejos de enturbiarla, ella seguía en la misma posición, más allá de lo propio y lo ajeno, había trascendido el ciclo de renacimientos, y así, cuando el número superó los cuatrocientos mil ejemplares su corazón se paró. Cuando estos sobrepasaron el millón, ya no quedó sangre en su cuerpo.
Sobre un charco del agua despreciada por los bichos quedó en paz, en la posición de loto. Cuando fueron abandonando el cadáver la imagen de un ser carente de vida e iluminado envolvió la habitación. El Nirvana está aquí.

La mujer quedó en posición de loto. La casa recogida y limpia. Todo en su exacto lugar. Un suave rumor a jazmín y la dulce luz de un atardecer tardío. Había necesitado de una jornada completa, en realidad más de lo que hoy consideraríamos una jornada completa.
Hicieron falta no menos de 12 horas, más un descanso para comer algo, para dejar la casa tan limpia que ahora podría ensuciarse con gusto. El inmoral ritual de ensuciar lo limpio. Contaminar lo purificado. La mugre que vuelve a reclamar el espacio contra el tiempo dedicado en apartarla. Daba igual. Ahora, sobre el cojín de meditación, con los músculos cansados pero en relajada distensión, solo se tenía que dejar estar.
Y estando fue que llegó el primer zancudo insecto. Se posa en el brazo. Su trompa desplegó las seis diminutas agujas que la componen. Con las dos primeras serró la blanda dermis. Rompió su cohesión atómica. Avergonzó el poder que se le otorga a la carne. Llegó ahora el momento de que otras dos de esas agujas separaran la carne dejando al microscopio descubierto el néctar biológico del ser. Y ahora sí, las dos que quedaban succionaron la sangre separando y filtrando agua y plasma. El agua para las ranas.

Siempre que las cosas se ponían tan jodidas no había droga ni dharma que la calmase tanto como una sesión de minuciosa dedicación a desinfectar la casa.
Cada mínima telaraña en un rincón era desprendida. Toda junta de alicatado o suelo frotada y limpiada. Cada mueble, cada superficie, cada centímetro cuadrado despojado de las células de piel muerta, fibras, tierras, restos microscópicos rebosantes de vida, de otra vida. Se lavaban menajes de uso diario, los reservados e incluso los olvidados al fondo del armario. Se metían en la lavadora todos y cada uno de los tejidos susceptibles de dar vueltas en jabón y agua.
Aquello no era un simple adecentar las estancias. Era un método eficaz e infalible de desinfectar el espacio privado y, con eso esperaba, también una oportunidad de empezar de cero. Como si la formación del universo hubiera sido un caos surgido de una singularidad pulcra y de una vaciedad tal que no hubiera espacio ni materia que ensuciar. En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo no manchaba, solo luz sin danza.

Умный дом на openHAB+MQTT+Arduino. Часть 1: Кластер

Изначально была мысль повысить доступность openHAB средствами виртуализации. Ставим два гипервизора, настраиваем High availability, при отказе хоста виртуалка с openHAB перезапустится на соседнем сервере. И все бы ничего, но для работы HA нужно общее хранилище. Какой-то NAS допустим у меня есть, но выход его из строя даже более вероятен, чем отказ хоста. А городить что-то на DRBD или подобном не хотелось. Поэтому было решено кластеризовать openHAB другим способом. см. рисунок ниже

Express Rail Link (#ERL) is informing the public that they will be running combined #KLIAEkspres and #KLIATransit service on Sunday, 6 August 2023 from 5:00 am to 7:00 am to carry out #mosquito #fogging exercise at the #train platforms at #KLSentral.

At KL Sentral Station, all #departures and #arrivals will be through KLIA Ekspres ARRIVAL platform. The combined #service #frequency will be 30 minutes. Normal services will resume after the completion of the fogging exercise.
