Just found out by accident #today that if I plug one screen in one computer with two cables on two different ports, I can have it set up twice with different outputs. That allows you to have two desktops to change between by changing the input of your screen 🤯
I haven't thought of a useful application for this yet, but then I don't use regular virtual desktops either. Even so, I think it's kinda cool

Don't install the new Nvidia drivers if you are using Virtual Desktop. There is official info from the developer that it completely breaks video encoding with VD.

Remember my complaint about out of the box mapping of just 12 desktops in different desktop environments like XFce?Because of my different workflows I have 16 desktops predefined, just so I know, with the keyboard shortcut, where to jump to fast and continue where I left off. I only use the mouse when I absolutely have to, or when it's really elegant to do so, so I'm a keyboard shortcut mapping daemon.
I haven't taken the time yet to check into the configuration files, of my preferred Desktop Environments and Window Managers, how to map more keyboard shortcuts to More virtual desktops.
However I'm certain that what you want is scriptable, in at least three Desktop Environments and at least two Window Managers it's just not out of the box
I love digging into configuration files and I've seen this options in a few of them

I just started my second play through of #arizonasunshine2. It's a fantastic #vr game. This time around I played it on my #pico4 headset using #alvr on #linux . And it worked flawlessly! I downloaded it from #steam, launched ALVR, launched the game and it worked without any tinkering. The experience is pretty much the same as using #virtualdesktop on #windows.
I am amazed by the simplicity of #gaming on Linux these days!

Working on a shader for #DOSBox -X to present some stereoscopic DOS games, such as ones that support SimulEyes VR, into side-by-side mode to make them work with programs like #BigScreen and #VirtualDesktop for VR headsets.
Similar (but not for SimulEyes) has been done for Retroarch, but I like how SimulEyes makes it easy to detect which eye each frame goes into.
I still plan on adding guessing if a screen isn't VR, so it gets presented to both eyes.
