I've recently taken another look at VR hardware & software space to see if it's at a point where I might be interested.

I am interested. All my research points me firmly towards Pico 4 being the best choice for me at this point.

It satisfies all needs within a price point that isn't completely ridiculous to me.

1. no Zucc
2. works with Godot
4. standalone

As an indie game dev and 3D/tech artist I also see that as an investment.

Here we go - Meta are fully moving through the #enshittification gears with their #vr division now.

As if you needed a reason not to wear a Meta product on your face.

You're better off with a #pico4 - they haven't stooped to Bytedance's lows yet.

They will eventually, but then you just move on to the next VR company who, in future, build their systems with privacy built in.

I really like my #Pico4 headset but by far the biggest problem it has is that whoever is in charge of their "staff picks" section is significantly to horny and keeps selecting soft core pornography to be displayed on the home screen.

There is actually no excuse for that and it would be really cool if I could disable the recommendations system entirely.

I just started my second play through of #arizonasunshine2. It's a fantastic #vr game. This time around I played it on my #pico4 headset using #alvr on #linux . And it worked flawlessly! I downloaded it from #steam, launched ALVR, launched the game and it worked without any tinkering. The experience is pretty much the same as using #virtualdesktop on #windows.

I am amazed by the simplicity of #gaming on Linux these days!

I've got a #pico4 and it's an amazing bit of kit.

I use it for work, using www.immersed.com and takes breaks to do a boxing workout with Box To The Beat.

And the family uses it for #gaming 🎮

If only Meta weren't leading the charge, not a good look having such a shite company setting the tone 😬

@hybridhavoc I would absolutely wait for some reviews of the #quest3. I recently upgraded from Quest 2 to #pico4 due to the higher resolution displays, lower weight and better FOV.

I use it mostly as a wireless #PCVR headset using VirtualDesktop and I absolutely love it. The Quest 3 looks like it has the same advantages over the Quest 2 plus some nice additional features but at a much higher price poing.
