This is on an 80's Peugeot, with 6 sp freewheel, Shimano Tiagra derailleur, and friction shifting. I took it apart to clean and didn't note which was which, thinking they were the same. If I were to guess, the narrow one (right) goes closer to cassette since it has less of a bearing? The other (left) going "outside" with chain load from front ring coming into it.
Anyone know for sure?

It was CW, just a very rough CW. Clamping cup into vice and slowly moving whole frame helped ease things along, with liberal squirts of PB.
What are the chances of finding a "pearl" touchup paint?

After a few tweaks by the LBS, the gravel bike is now a functioning 1x, so I've turned the focus over to the 80's Peugeot. We ordered some parts and while waiting for those they suggested I clean up the bottom bracket and headset. Hahahaha…
BB fixed cup is being stubborn. Unscrewing it (CW) and after a bit it started getting tighter. Found reference saying Italian & French BBs unscrew CCW, but this sure seems CW. Maybe some PB blaster?
Fork came off super easy, too easy maybe with the bearings flying everywhere. Top bearings were caged and bottom are free as a bird now. -

It might not seem like much, but it's a #PR for me. Yes, I've ridden further, yes I've had a higher top speed, but I've never been able to maintain a consistent speed form multiple mile back to back. All but mile 1 today I maintained between 16.0 and 16.4 miles per hour, for 3.5 miles in a row.
My #cylcing adventure on my #vintagebike is what is driving my #fitnessjourney. It's hard to take a second to be proud of yourself, so make sure that you a recognizing all the wins you have. -

It's slowly getting easier. Added another half mile to the routine today and was able to keep my lap speeds consistent and about 0.7 mph faster than before.
