Es ist der Wochenstart im Studio und wir können uns nur schwer beherrschen.
Den beim Anblick dieses "Futomaki V2", einem Customrahmen aus den Händen von unserem Freund Nico aka Cicli Bonanno wird uns sehr warm. Sowohl im Herz, als auch in den Beinen.
Denn was will man mehr: Custom-Stahl in höchster Qualität verarbeitet, Vollintegration, Edizione Corsa Design mit Wunschlackierung in Porsche-Farben, so wie unser Kunde Kevin es sich erträumt hat.
Und auf das Komplettrad müsst ihr nicht lange warten...

I had a stick jam into my wheel which caused the rear derailleur to decide that it was sick of my bullshit and throw itself into the spokes and embrace the sweet peace of oblivion.
Unfortunately it took the hanger along for the ride. Since it's a #SteelBike it's not a replaceable one, but integral to the frame.
So I just had to bend it back into place, making sure that it is in the same plane as the wheel.
There's a fancy Park Tool whizzer that does the job, but
1) it's expensive and I would use it once every few years, if that, and
2) I don't have it here, now when I'm fixing my bike.
So I built my own.
Basically the principal of the thing is that you screw a long bar into the derailleur hanger, and you have a guage on it to tell you if it's true to the wheel.
This was made from bits of scrap steel I had kicking around and an old axle bolt (which is the same size and thread as the derailleur bolt).

Did I mention I got a new* bike?
Road find, ancient rampar r one, which is a low end road frame. It seems complete, which means I can move on my shotgun project which I never completed... Time to scrap that frame, wheels and move on. Need tires tubes, and time.

New bike day!! Introducing Standert Triebwerk!
It has been over a month in the making, and it turned out fantastic. Maybe even better than I've imagined. I handpicked all the components and parts, and Zach at Back In Action Bikes did a fabulous job building it for me. He hated me for picking a white bar tape because he had to wash his hands 5 times during the build. 🤣
I kinda dig the look of 1x crankset. Looks very clean and neat. This bike has a steel frame, but I slammed all carbon and titanium components on it. So it is only 200 grams heavier than my Pinarello. It rides so smooth. Just cruises along. Not as responsive though. Kinda like driving a CVT vs a PDK.
Boston is really a beautiful city, providing a perfect backdrop for my bike ;)
I'm sure I'll put a lot of miles on it!

Es ist ein sonniger Freitag in Dresden. Und da widmen wir uns: Dresdner Stahl!
Denn unsere Freunde von Sour Bicycles haben uns einen "Space Cake" geliefert.
Das neue Allroad-Rahmenset mit dem berauschenden Namen bauen wir für Johannes zum Traumrad auf. Er bekommt seine Wunsch-Farbe in dunkelblau, die wir mit einem Lila-Kontrast dank vieler Anbauteile von Hope Technology Ltd garnieren. Sowohl Steuersatz und Naben, aber auch die kleinen Dinge wie Top Cap und Speichennippel bringen die Farbe ins Spiel. Johannes mag's klassisch und nutzt die mechanische Shimano 105 Gruppe, die wir aber mit "CRS" Kurbel von Ingrid Components ordentlich aufhübschen. Unsere "LW3626" Hausfelge bringt ordentlich Leichtigkeit und Steifigkeit in den Laufradsatz und die breiten "G One Speed" Reifen in 35mm fühlen sich auf vielen Belägen sehr wohl. Klassisches Allroad Bike! Viel Spaß Johannes!

Wir feiern heute natürlich lieber Niccoló. Und insbesondere den hinter @ciclibonanno .
Denn der versorgt uns seit Jahren mit feinsten Stahlrahmen für unsere Projekte.
So auch in diesem Fall für Robert - der sich einen modernen Klassiker bei uns bauen lässt. Die Basis dafür: Ein herrlicher Futomaki RIM Rahmen in 2farbiger grüner Lackvariante + dritter Farbe in den Decals. Dafür putzt man dann doch gern die Radschuhe.

Mixed #road and #gravel #ride. As always I came across other cyclists who couldn't accept I was riding at same speed and "raced" me while I was minding my own business. It is funny how men react. The other fun fact is most riders have such a bad position they are super inefficient from an aero point of view even on brand new aero bikes with deep carbon wheels. Since I come back from illness I was very much not into riding with intensity yet kept up with these riders without even trying on my vintage steel bike, box rims, unshaved legs and short socks just because I had a more aero position and narrow handlebars.

I'm just being reminded, how my city once, while planning for some road work, *forgot* that people also walk and cycle; deactivating all pedestrian lights for crossing a four-lane main road, so that anyone outside a car had to hope for a gap in traffic and be quick.
I had to lay down my bike in the middle of a side street so the inductive sensor would register me as a car and allow me to cross without dying.
Was honked at for that too.

Michael hatte Lust auf ein schnelles Gravelbike auf Stahlbasis. Und natürlich wenden wir uns da als erstes an Cicli Bonanno, denn Nico fertigt Custom-Stahlrahmen in bester italienischer Handwerkskunst. Nicht nur die Geometrie ist frei wählbar, auch die Lackierung. Und so erfüllen wir Michaels Wunsch nach einer Farbbombe in „Kontrastgelb“, die wir mit silbernen Kontrasten weiter verstärken.
Auch der Rest des Rades bleibt metallisch. Anbauteile aus Alu und leichte Alufelgen bestimmen das Programm, ebenso wie die SRAM road RIVAL AXS Funkschaltgruppe.
Der „Gravel King Slick“ Reifen von Panaracer macht das Rad zum perfekten Allroad-Mobil, so rollt es sehr gut sowohl auf Wald- und Feldwegen, aber auch auf der Straße.
Und wie jedes Projekt aus dem Studio, alles nach ausführlichem Bikefitting und Konzeptionsgespräch projektiert und mit Sebastians Mechanikerhänden hochwertig aufgebaut. Viel Spaß Michael!
