Im xfce-Terminal funktionieren jetzt allerdings Teile von Ebene 4 nicht: Die Ziffern tun, das + (auf Ebene 4) nicht, die Richtungstasten auch nicht. Weiß zufällig jemand, wie sich das beheben lässt?

I never learn to properly write with ten fingers. I'm fast but m technique is questionable. I now try to learn a proper 10-finger system. And because @netzhexe nerdsniped me I'm learning #Neo2
It's great and it's a lot of fun learning it with #Ktouch

Ich bin eine großer Freund von ergonomischen Tastaturbelegungen. Die Schwierigkeit ist nur, dass man dafür gleich ganz viele Tastenbelegungen neu lernen muss.

Aktuell taste ;-P ich mich heran, indem ich neo-qwertz nehmen: Das Hauptfeld ist QWERTZ, aber die Sonderzeichen auf Ebenen 3 sind die von #neo2.

Installing another shell is close to installing a compiler on production systems: A big no-no.
Tho in terms of keyboards and layouts that is nowadays fixable and I've seen #Neo2 and #Dvorak as well as #ANSI - #QWERTY, #ISO - #QWERTY, ISO - #AZERTY, ISO - #QWERTZ and German Macintosh [yes, that's a different layout predating ISO-QWERTZ!] in the same room on different systems...

Experimenting with weird layouts on the #ZSA #Voyager reveals that I have very strong touch-type muscle memory for the #neo2 layout.

When I'm stuck, I begin typing the wrong keys by moving fingers reflexively, and I know that it's NEO2 keys which are supposed to be there.

@yassie_j I guess @fuchsiii only using #ANSI-#QWERTY instead of #ISO-#QWERTZ means she ain't deep enough in the rabbit.hole where people use obsure and esotheric Layouts beyond #Neo2 but like #Workman and #Colemark...

I am currently challenging myself to make better use of my keyboard layout (bone, a variant of #neo2). It has a lot of useful keys in the main keyboard field, and not having to move my hands away is a speed win.

I'm also trying to do more things with the command line, and I'm currently very happy with #alacritty on Windows 10.

Ich plane seit Jahren auf #Neo2 oder eine Variante umzusteigen, scheue aber den Lernaufwand. Hab inzwischen Neo-Qwertz entdeckt: Buchstaben in Qwertz-Anordnung, 3. Ebene sowie mod3 und mod4 von Neo2. Damit übe ich die 3. Ebene und das erleichtert das Tippen beim Programmieren auch schon sehr.

Vor zwei Tagen war ich noch am Verzweifeln wegen meinem Tastaturumstieg auf #neo2 Layout. Heute sieht die Welt schon sehr anders aus… Ich glaube, so langsam werden die Fehler weniger und die Geschwindigkeit ist auch bisschen besser. Aber es wird. Danke an ermutigende Menschen hier im Fediverse. Danke an @acid für den Floh mit dem Split-Keyboard und danke an @iyalei für die Empfehlung der #Keebio #Iris. Die liebe ich so sehr, dass hier inzwischen schon eine zweite ist… ☺️

So und jetzt geht es vom großen Screen im Arbeitszimmer an den mittelkleinen Screen im Wohnzimmer. Zum Ausklang des Tages bisschen online Catan zocken und dazu Musik auf'm Plattenspieler aufgelegt.

Ich weiß prinzipiell, wo jeder Buchstabe liegt, mache aber immer noch unfassbar viele Fehler und bin einfach total langsam und eingeschränkt. Ich überlege, das Experiment abzubrechen, auch mit dem Hintergedanken, dass ich beruflich mit jeder Menge Rechner mit QWERTZ zu tun habe. Ich sehe gerade nicht, dass ich zwei #Keyboard Layouts parallel sinnvoll nutzen kann. Ich sehe leider auch, wieviel effizienter neo2 im Deutschen gegenüber QWERTZ ist. Mega frustrierend gerade, da ich für die Arbeit in den nächsten Tagen ne Menge Texte schreiben muss und das aktuell echt Brainfuck ist.

@anzet As promised, my #keyboard monster in its natural environment - Keyboard.io Model 01 with Matias (ALPS) Quiet Click switches, #neo2 layout and either Linear A or blank milky white keycaps, really nice Python cable between the two halves.

ToDo:
- woodwork on the casing, some engraving and change the lacquer for either shellac or linseed oil
- a nicer USB cable at some point
